Pricing went down by almost 50% for the 480m gtx sli upgrade (1300+EUR -> 700+ EUR) in the U700 (X7200) model :D

Well let's see what will happen in the states then. First question is why would they lower the price when 470M just came out and 485M in the horizon?

Typo, maybe. But apart from that mysn is THE clevo reseller in germany. Highly recommended.

There is no 485M on the horizon. It's already been rebranded as part of the 500M series.

Still going to be a long while for mobile versions to come out. Nevertheless, price drop is always a good thing. (Only if it's true)

Cards in notebooks might not be until 2011 but new 500M model numbers can be announced before years end just to rob attention away from AMD 6000 series. The (paper) launch for desktop GTX 580 next Monday, Nov. 8th will probably be just for that reason.

It's unlikely Nvidia will pull another GTX 285M and announce a new GTX 485M along side 500M series cards since they're all likely just rebrands of the same GPU family anyway.

Will await confirmation from Sager. News of price drop only makes sense if the W880CU and 470M are discounted as well.

Many haven't noticed, but the prices in the US dropped a week ago, by about 600$. I doubt there will be another drop any time soon.

Thats funny cause in a nvidia 470m thread that got closed over at the gaming discussion section after I posted how much nvidia is crapping all over the notebook industry by overpricing there death grips monopoly of tech associated with notebooks when this buisness is already inflated and overpriced, the gods must have been reading.

Pardon me though If I'm being to much of a AMD fanboy. I do really really like nvidias 3D though, just the pricing is rediculous with 470's/80s.

    Happy late Halloween.

I guess the prices get more normal. When there is new stuff coming out. The first ones to buy it pay extra, after a while prices get stable and more reasonable.

no doubt.. the prices are still high when buying individual cards.. and when the next gen comes out the last gen.. stays the same price.. or rises slightly.

In that case it is the shortage that makes those so expensive.

The market for notebook cards is not like the one for desktops. Supply is scarce, buyers are scarce and prices simply don't follow the rules of "perfect competition". And on top of all these, the lack of standardisation raises important obstacles in lowering prices. Under these circumstances, producers can milk the few enthusiast consumers without fear that this will backfire on them.
