Recently while using the laptop the screen just all of a sudden starts to pixelate up with random colours and freezes my notebook, the only way to get the screen back to normal was to restart the laptop.
Well i say was because this doesn't work anymore today after i got the fizzeling screen i did a reboot and all seemed normal except for the screen on which only the backlight came on.
I tried pluging in an external monitor but still wont show me anything.
The leds seem to be blinking as they should, also tried sone Fn+combinations to see if the leds come on and off and they do, also i can change the brightness of the backlight, but when i tried to search for the computer on my wireless lan i didnt find it, althou the wireless led was on.
So i dont know what to make of this...at first it seems to me the graphics card has stopped working but im not quite sure.

    Any opinions?

Maybe resetting to "factory defaults" in the BIOS?

Out of the dead M860TU threads I remember, they've all had 9800M GT's.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, that could have something to do with NVIDIA's discontinuing them.

Your problem sounds like a dead GPU. Have you considered baking it?

    Yes.

Lots of people had problems with the 8800m cards. Just search the forum and you will find the threads.

If the card is faulty, I could buy it from you if you want ;) (I like baking)

my 18 month old 9800gt is still going strong.
also the 9800gt is a rebranded 8800gtx card so its the same thing.

and finally please tell me you didnt overclock as this will most probably invalidate your warranty depending on supplier.

contact your oem for better advice.

No i didn't do anything to the notebook no OC's :) and it still has 6months warranty , but that isn't the problem.
The problem is that if i give my notebook to the service center ill have it back in about 1 month as i dont think they have on stock a new GPU.

Oh and btw MrDJ i see u feel strongly about kobalt-computers :) , i was acctualy planing on getting my next notebook from the UK, may i ask u some question related to that?
