I talked with XoticPC support and they said currently the NP8150-S1 model comes with Hynix RAM. They said I could have the laptop without RAM, so I could put in different RAM, but I would have to get the regular NP8150. The amount of money I save with the S1 makes it not worth it.

Does anyone know anything about it or have any reviews of Hynix in general as a brand? I have heard that you should go with Crucial or Kingston, and they are generally considered the best brand when it comes to RAM.

If I do not plan on overclocking (at least for now), is having Hynix vs Crucial/Kingston really going to make any difference what so ever?

    Thanks

In our experience they have a solid track record and all use major brand chips. Sager certifies each module they use for compatibility and performance.

Hynix is the world's second-largest chipmaker. Lots of retail RAM uses Hynix memory. You're in good hands.

Even if you get the notebook without any RAM installed you'll still end up with Hynix memory....as they're the makers of the GDDR used on any of the video cards you'll get in the Clevo.

Hynix makes solid RAM, but honestly, unless you're trying to squeeze out every last drop of 3DMark you can get, any brand RAM will do.
