You should probably say GDDR3...otherwise people will think you mean DDR3 main system RAM.

DDR3?! So, every 2090 has DDR3? Well then, I will be ordering mine right.about.now! Oh, and show us pics of the lappy! And, if time is on your side, how bout some benchmarks of games, perhaps Oblivion and Supreme Commander?

I'd be more interested in benchmarks of DX10 games like Lost Planet, CoH, etc.

So you got the WXGA glossy screen, right? Doesn't seem to be that glared, which was what I was worried about.

Looks great...but yes, please do post the 3dmark06 scores. Some people on this board are opposed to such benchmarks, but they are indeed benchmarks and useful comparisons at equal resolutions between different platforms.

Also, is it possible that Riva tuner is simply saying the video memory is gddr3 because it assumes the new 8600gt uses that, or is it capable of actually detecting what kind of ram it is?

actually i don't notice much of a glare. and theirs a light right behind me. all in all the laptop feels pretty solid. i cant feel a flex on the keyboard. the screen ripples a bit when you push behind the screen. it feels fairly light and the fingerprint reader is so easy to setup. i haven't really tried out much else. i'll give as much detail as i can give tomorrow, i have to work in an hour and then i'm hanging out with my gf. tomorrow i'll try to answer any questions that are left unanswered

downloading 3dmark06 right now!! i need to get and then install an additional gig of ram tho... so my 3dmarks scores are gonna be gimped

3DMark is only so useful...it's a synthetic benchmark.

I have bookmarked this thread and will check it periodically. Thanks for all the info!!

Can it be safe to assume that since the Sager version of the IFL90 has DDR3 that they Compal version will as well?

congrats on the new notebook. :)

It should serve you well... as long as you do your part to take care of it.

lemme give you my pre-requisites for owning a gaming notebook:

Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:

    1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place.. not the fridge [remember to use it occasionally 3-4 times a year to charge and discharge it].

2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
    - ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
    - RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
    - check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
    - ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating

By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.

A notebook is only as good as
    - the support that comes with it [from resellers/vendors/OEMs]
    - and the owner that takes care of it

For those thinking of ordering. I ordered a Sager NP2090 from PowerNotebooks today. I want to highlight the fact that Donald was very nice and patient with my ramblings over the phone. I hate not being able to see the face of the people I talk to... so I can really end up rambling over the phone but Donald remained cool.

yea pretty bad, my old dell 8200 sounded fine but this just sounds bad to me. it sounds hollow and from a tin can. also the top black part is pretty easy to scratch. my girlfriend has put a sizable scratch on it already.

*edit* ok so system sounds sound bad but when you play songs through media player it sounds fairly decent

Do you think the bad sound is because of the speakers or the integrated sound? Say if I were to run it to external speakers, do you think I'd get a good sound?
