You got a good deal, so don't give that up just to spite an angry man, who's probably upset because he bought the $2k notebook that his son apparently decided to sell behind his back.

So, there's no reason to refuse it, because if it wasn't delivered in as advertised condition you can still send it back and get your refund. To just not even inspect it and put it through its paces, to really see if it's tip-top would be a prideful, shortsighted decision.

You have it now,so keepit. Lokk at this as business now, and leave the personal feelings out of it.

Is this a decent 3dmark Vantage result?
And is this an ok wPrime result?

So far the laptop has a few small nicks on the corners and a small pen tip sized dent on the lid. Besides that Vista and Ubuntu both ran great on it.

that would suck, there seem to be a few heating issues with the laptop and I'm not sure if that migh've just been my bad running it without a cooler or perhaps accidentally blocking the fan intakes or something?

once when installing linux and once when installing vista, it froze once each and required a restart.

a new lid is about 75-80$ just fyi.. so you could always order one and replace it then get it warrantied.. if that was the case about the dent in the lid

What about the freezing issue? It froze once while installing Linux and once again when installing Vista. It basically froze up and needed to be restarted. Anybody ever had this issue with it?

The previous owner said it happened with him once a month, but the kid seemed like a total tard so I doubt he knew much.

Here's the dent. I mean it is REALLY tiny:

Make sure you set the SATA Mode to "IDE Mode" when installing Windows or Linux.... it helps prevent lock ups.

and do a memory test (get MemTest86+, burn it on a blank CD, let it autoboot and scan for errors).

also check to see if the HDD is still healthy.
..... for Vista, START > Accessories > right-click Command Prompt > "Run as administrator"
    - (in Command Prompt)type: CHKDSK C: /F
    - press Y (for Yes), then restart for Windows to scan the HDD for errors.

**** make sure to watch the ending of the CHKDSK scan since it will give you a summary.... look for "Bad Sectors".... if there are any bad sectors, then you will have to replace the HDD.
