Yesterday when I saw a thread about 7970m being released in late May, I could not believe my eyes. I was so ready for ordering my sweet new laptop with IB cpu and 7970m . My wallet was fully ready. But damn, I do not think I can wait another month to buy a laptop... :( I guess I will just wait til next Monday and order NP9170 with IB and 675M. I really hope I can upgrade my gfx card later on with NP9170 (possibly to 7970M). :'(

p.s. Any recommendations on resellers? To be honest, everyone had almost the same price. I just want to find out who got more discounts/perks, etc. :D

Maybe the thread is misleading - for that I apologize. What I meant was that I won't be getting the laptop with IB + 7970M by early May, say, May 7th-ish. From what it looks, it is more like once I preorder, I will be getting my new laptop (with IB and 7970M) by really late May or even early June. I was just saying that I could probably not wait that long and will order next week just to get new IB cpu and get over with it in a 10-day timeframe. :)

Man, wait a little longer. Early June you will have a far better machine. I looked at the reviews and benchmarks today, comparing 7970m and gtx675m and... wait for it.... PROFIT!!

AMD crushes nvidia's card by more than 50% performance. Wanna play Battlefield 3 maxed out + Anti Aliasing on max? There you go, 60 fps of smoothness and joy.

Upgrading down the road is possible but VERY EXPENSIVE. And you cant sell your gtx675m for a good price due to it being old and venerable. And utter crap in my opinion.

If you wanna burn your money, then go ahead. But 1 month difference is going to matter when 7970m demolishes all current games out there with more than 60FPS.

I'm in the same boat but will happily be petting my wallet for the extra time. Sometimes it pays to just make the decision and jump in, but in this case, I think the time is worth it, at least until we get to see some real world reviews and benchmarks for the 7970.

Haha, thank you guys! all these replies were really helpful :) I will definitely reconsider and will wait another month. I just hope 7970m is worth a wait!
....and thanks again for making me not waste money on 675m :p

If you buy from Mythlogic, they will be able to upgrade you to 7970m later at a very good price due to their phoenix upgrade plan... :)

I second what E.Blar said, I too ordered from mythogic and waiting for mine to arrive, instead of the 7970m I wanted to buy the P270WM but due to work constraints and timings I went P170EM. I'm got a GTX675m with my order if 7970m comes out I'll wait for GTX680m and upgrade to that, though it seems the 7970m is really ahead in scores I honestly doubt it would really pull a huge performance difference in everyday applications. plus the GTX675m's stock temps gives it enough headroom to OC if need be

For high end gaming, people should really wait for the amd 7970m

If you're like me and already have a desktop for gaming and are buying a computer for casual gaming, there's no point in waiting.

Think about it this way. I bought myself another M860TU to tide myself over until IB and the latest video cards have properly dropped and had all the kinks ironed out.

Definitely not the time to be making rash or rushed decisions with new hardware.

But why not get a W860CU or P150HM or some newer tech that has also had time in the spotlight? Also, how much did that cost?
