HI Gophn thanks for the fast reply I want a lock with no noise just the cable, which one is the best one from Targus Defcon that cannot be cut 100% for sure thanks.

Targus Defcon CL locks are utter rubbish.

I bought one and had a pretty bad experience with it when I hooked it up to my NP2090. I got it at CompUSA for $14.99 (there was a $15 sale, go figure) and when I hooked up the lock on the laptop after setting and testing the combination numerous times, it got stuck. Bewildered, I tried getting the lock off however possible without tools. Since the lock was wrapped around my bed, my laptop was essentially immobile and I couldn't take it to class that day, which really ticked me off. Eventually, I snipped the WIRE of the lock (the wire isn't that strong, 7" wire snippers can snip the wire in no time) and I just had the lock mechanism on my laptop to take off.

I called Targus and they e-mailed me this document about how to deal with this issue. They said that you can try every combination possible, saying that it'll take about 45 minutes to do so. However, the issue with the lock wasn't that I forgot the combination, but it got jammed and the lock mechanism wouldn't unlock. I went to do the second method of removal: bandsawing the lock off. I went to Home Depot and sawed off the lock; surprisingly enough, it wasn't that hard, no professional locksmith required, it was almost like cutting through wood.

Long story short, if you were gonna get a laptop lock, make sure it's not a Targus Defcon CL; the wire is pathetically weak (both "armored" and "unarmored" wire versions are vulnerable) and the lock mechanism itself is easily hackable or cuttable.

the kensington is the best imo.. i also love that fact it has rubber between it and the notebook so if it turns while connected it does not scratch up the spot it hooks onto. and its very think and well built also..

Man, Syntax, that sounds horrible. I'm actually also getting a NP2090 and my mom gave me a targus lock. Now I'm all worried. I don't want to go out and buy another lock, but I also don't want to be stuck going to HD and sawing the targus off...
