Very nice specs and skip the Intel turbo memory. With 4gb of RAM you don't need it. Enjoy your new toy! :)

I'll say change the 7K200 to 5K320 if you can. also it would be much cheaper to buy the soundcard from amazon or newegg.

is the 5k320 better? i really never noticed the difference between high and low rpm hard drive but then again my previous laptop was super slow. so it probably doesn't matter. is the performance difference big between the 8mb and the 16mb cache drives?

    Who'd you order from? I'm having a mini-panic attack here. :p

I haven't placed my order yet, and if I'm going to get this, I'll need it soon.

Unless... I can somehow get this baby shipped to my dorm... Somehow.

The Sager NP5796 is shipping daily.

Figure 3-5 days to build, test and burn in...and the UPS label goes on it. If you need it faster, just let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs :)

I know exactly what you're feeling. I've been checking the XoticPC website every couple hours at work hoping it'll move out of Phase 2 soon :).

I got pretty much the same specs as you did except I went for the 5k320.

I suppose it depends on what you wanto do with the harddrive?
Actual RPM does make a difference in certain situations, take AoC for example, you wont be able to tell a difference between a 5400rpm standard sata-drive, or a 15k rpm scsi in pure fps/preformance situations, however, loading times will probably be 1/3 on the scsi compared to the satadrive...
Not that I fancy that game, just that it seriously hogs your machine.

Ive gone with the 320gb 7200rpm myself.
I will have a laptop only from now on, as a workstation + laptop (been waiting for this model for the hardware inside a 15.4"), but I have 1.5TB nas-storage at home which is in a linuxenvironment, so I dont need todo any real downloads or so, just installed program's and some game, and if I want a movie/music I probably stream, I can still carry some stuff in the 320gb to tbh...

    Edit:
WTH is this about ~1 month delay to middle of september, "confirmed" anywhere?
I put my order in through kobalt just earlier today.

haha i'm checking it daily myself, but then i realize paypal takes like 3-5 days for the funds to transfer payment from bank to account to xoticpc. grrrrr all that to save 67$ i don't want to start rumors of the 860tu delays.its shipping mid august its just that they have overloads of order so if u order later it might not get there till mid september.

You dont need to be worried about that, there were a ton of orders for the 5796, including preorders and Sager never had any back ordered parts. I ordered mines on the 20th, 6 days after the launch and I got mine shipped 3 days later.
