Third Clevo P650RE3 I've owned now and they all have horrendous backlight bleeding, absolutely horrendous. And there's nothing I can do about it because resellers keep telling me the same thing: "The manufacturer has deemed this issue to be within tolerance levels, we can't change the display". I don't know what bothers me most, an industry that simply bypasses the issue by coming up with "tolerance levels" and forcing you to just deal with it, or the fact that I can't get over it no matter how hard I try... I know it has no baring on performance but it's there, I know it's there and it bothers me to no end.
Funny thing is I never noticed backlight bleeding until I started reading about it recently, now I see it everywhere. It may have been there on all of my previous machines but I had no clue... Funny how the mind works. I do have an old MSI GE60 with a TN panel that looks near perfect, and also owned a Motorola Moto G with a perfect screen for about a month. It died and the replacement has some minor bleed that I have learned to live with...
Are there any tips or tricks for dealing with light bleeding on these screens? So far I loosened the bezel a bit all around the display but it didn't help at all. I also read about lining the LCD with a small amount of black electrical tape but that seems like it requires a high skill level...

It's part and parcel of IPS style technology, it provides better viewing angles over TN but does have increased backlight bleed, you could try and find a TN panel to replace it with if you prefer them.

I think I'll just wait for OLED displays, it will take a year or two but will be well worth it.

It certainly fixes that issue
I give up (P650RE3 displays)
