I'm almost ready to bite the bullet and buy this thing but I have a couple questions first.
Is the cooling system really as loud as reviewers say? I'm asking because I don't want to be in public and have people ask me to turn the jet engine off.![]()
Second what's the battery life like on this thing?
Lastly is there anything I should be aware of? Like driver issues or firmware updates and the like?
I will give my gratitude and thanks ahead of time to anyone who responds.

I have just recently used my friend's M570RU-U... its pretty quiet on auto fans and medium fans... using the Fan Toggle
The battery life is around 2.5 to 3 hours on basic usage... gaming is not that great on battery if you want to know... since the power management downclocks the videocard performance on battery.
When you receive the latest system, it should all be up to date on all firmware and BIOS... so that should be good.
If you can wait until Summer... this model will get refreshed into the new M570TU with:
- same chassis
- update to Montevina platform (new CPUs.. quad-core & DDR3)
- HDMI and e-SATA -
is there any way to downclock the gpu futher lower? like 200Mhz?
-
Isnt that what PS mode does?
-
what is the clock speed with battery mode?
-
200mhz for GPU....
Or you could try crappy drivers if you really want it at that speeds.
As for battery life, I tested one scenario where I was doing slight audio edition, heavy browsing and audio playback, and I got around 2hrs 48 min (this was in 50% HP mode and 50% PS mode) -
200Mhz sounds damn good to me seriously.
how is the power consumption compare to integrated gpu?
the lowest clocking i can get for macbook pro are 337/346. -
just wanted to know whether M570TU is worth the wait?!
Also as it will be just released will the prices be high!! (my configured sager - $2683!!)
please advice -

About the Montevina platform!! -
WTH!!
I'll go with my current setup if the Montevina will come out to be more expensive!!Thanks btw!!
-
the problem is, do you need a laptop right now? I bet Centrino 3 or 4 would be even better.
-
But, i was looking for a lappy that can easily last me about 5-10 yrs!!
with minor upgrades like proc nd RAM!! nd as Montevina will be offering DDR3!! it has the potential to last that long i guess!!?
-
what are your major tasks? despite the performance, i doubt there will be any laptop can actually last 5-10 years for everyday use, especially an exotic laptop like this one. if you are looking for a low failure rate, I suggest you go for thinkpad t-series, of course, with a mid-range GPU. just my 2 cents.

)
I guess i'll go with my current setup of Sager NP5793!!
nd maybe i'll upgrade to a Core2 Extreme X9000 when the 2nd generation penryns become mainstream!!
Thanks for the suggestion but i completely hate the lenovo line of lappies!!but thats just me! lol!
Thanks man!!nd i totally appreciate nd respect your '2 cents'!!

just get it now. i wish i waited but if i followed on that wish i'd never get a computer. something bigger and better is always around the corner.
-
You can keep waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting... at the end you will never buy one
So I would buy it right now, it's a LOVELY machine! -
You won't have any regrets once you get it! The 5793 is by far the nicest laptop that I've owned.
-
If I remember correctly, CHaz did a study of RAM speeds on his desktop and found the performance diff between different RAM speeds to be minimal

From what I've gathered about Montevina the difference are:
WiMax, E-Sata, HDMI, Higher FSB and DDR3 support, and Gigabit Ethernet. All of which I think I can live without for 2-3 years. -
I've got a 5 y.o. vaio I'd happily sell you - still works (emphasize that, "works," not "performs") and the upgrade possibilities are strictly limited to "minor" (i.e., zero). Other than having to replace the hdd every so often (under the palmrest seems to be a particularly vulnerable spot on this system - too little protection from having the equipment physically squeezed or jostled), I would fully expect it to "last" for another 5 years (I wouldn't expect it to "perform," however, even when new the integrated graphics didn't have much flair for games as simple as SimCity 2000).
I have a few questions about the Sager np5793 before I buy
