When Clevo Releases their SLI solution. I do Hope it Murder's the Dell.

In everysingle thing from battery-life to processor power all the way to graphics power.

I got a Clevo because everyone and thier dog's FLeas has a m1730.

they are the Cracker-jack prize of a laptop and there's nothing special about them in my eyes.

they are cookie cutter.

Clevo is for people who want a Great Laptop. Something a cut above.

Not a Dell.

Dell= Honda Civic with lots of upgrades and RIced the hell out with lights and colors.

Clevo=Jaguar with v12 engine and all leather interior with all the things you want in luxury.

Congrats on the M1730. Just let him enjoy the best decision he has ever made. He is right about having the best laptop at the moment and if he needs it now he needs it now.

What´s taking Clevo so long to get the SLI for you guys? I recieved my XPS M1730 today, haven´t testet it yet though I am currently at work. If Clevo is cheaper than Dell well then they are definitely cheap. Though there are no Clevo resellers here in Sweden anyway, so my only option were the M1730. But I doubt that the Clevo is miles ahead in performance, you bet the 8800m GTX in Clevo is no higher clocked than the 8800m GTX in Dell So CPU performance yes, gaming performance, well no except in a few games where the CPU is important.

I wouldn´t rant about the M1730 though, but reading here it sounds like the M1730 is a bad and slow computer compared to the not yet released SLI 8800m GTX Clevo solution

 

In terms of value yes the sager is cheaper because you can configure the lowest options with a single 8800 gtx, but when load up the notebooks on both laptops dell pricing beats the **** out of a loaded sager 9262.

True the lower end dell m1730s with 8700 gt sli isnt even worth considering.

 

And the war has just begun...

The clevo will without a doubt win benchmark testing, especially 3dmark which is heavily CPU weighted. Real world performance however should be pretty damn close. Dell does and will always get better driver support because they sell so many of them. Hence why their SLI is already working. So gpu performance if anything will be better.

If I was buying in the SLI class I would probably get the Dell for looks and warranty alone. Unfortunately I'm looking at single GPU cheaper models and atm dell has nothing that competes with the m570's.

If the Clevo were a car - it certainly wouldn't be a Jag - for starters ppl have heard of Jaguar - and nobody has heard of Clevo (despite all it's boutique pseudonyms)

I think a fairer way to describe the Clevo would be a Skoda Octavia VRS

Yes - Skoda's are good cars now, as they are owned by Volkswagen - but they still have a stigma attached to them that they are trying to shake - hence they have no 'bling' value, hence no status, hence nobody is going to stand back in amazement when you tell them you have a Skoda.

and the Dell is more akin to an Audi R8 - Audi's are bling bling VW's - better cars but financed using VW's muscle - just like the XPS is the high performance Dell laptop.

So it would be fairer and more realistic to pitch the better known, better looking (and currently dare I say it - better performing) laptop as the better known, higher status car such as Mercedes, Porsche, BMW etc. and the Clevo as the lesser known, lower status Vehicle such as a Skoda, Seat etc.

Anybody who thinks otherwise, obviously doesn't know anything about cars, nor anything about Style.

Put it this way - you take a Clevo (Skoda) and put Alienware bling lid on it and BIOS - and you get a more 'desirable laptop' - why? because AW has status and Clevo doesn't
