From XoticPC.com. It should arrive in 6 to 13 days. I'm so excited. My previous laptop was a Compaq N610c that I got for $300 off eBay, and it died recently, so this is definately a welcome change. I've been reading up on Vista tweaks and tricks here at NBR, and I was wondering if there was anything else I should pick up. I definately plan to test this bad boy out with Crysis. I will post a mini-review when it arrives sometime next week. Until then I will have to just pass the time here planning things to do with my NP9262 when I get it!

    My specs:

17" Wide Viewing Angles WUXGA LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1200)
    Intel® Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 / 8MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB
Single Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory
    4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 X 2048MB
Genuine MS Windows® VISTA ULTIMATE 64-Bit Edition
    200GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
120GB 5400rpm SATA 150 Secondary Hard Disk Drive
    8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
    Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
    Internal Bluetooth Module

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

    Congrats on the new beast.

You might want to pick up a good notebook cooler, like
    - Zalman ZM-NC2000

And a good case if you plan on bringing it around.

I don't plan on SLi'ing it yet. I got the backpack with it, so carrying shouldn't be a problem. Is there a good notebook cooler I can get in-store?

The best one's that I have tested and used for these gaming notebooks are:
    - Zalman ZM-NC1000
    - Zalman ZM-NC2000
    - Cooler Master Infinite

The other notebook coolers are pretty much the same since they are just static fans blowing air at certain spots... while the good coolers (ones listed above) are the ones that give airflow to the entire stage of the cooler.

Oh yes, another question. Would taking it to BestBuy or some other place to have a third HDD installed have any effect on the warranty?

do not bring it to Best Buy... they will just rip you off... and probably wont even know how to do it.

You can easily do it yourself w/o affect the warranty... its all in the manual. :)

That's good to know. I wanted to transfer my old laptop HDD, but I was worried about screwing up my warranty. Thanks for the info.

If you move your HDD from your old laptop be sure you format it thoroughly. Do not attempt to just move it over and boot from it without doing a fresh install...the registry entries will get you in a lot of trouble if you do.

You can move the data over if you set the older HDD (which has to be SATA to work in the newer notebooks)... and need to be set as a secondary.

..which would make the data not dependent on registry and system files.

Another easy way to to just get a cheap (under $10) USB enclosure for your drive, and drag over the data at your leisure.

Thanks, I'll just try the USB enclosure since I don't want to open it up.
