    Hi.

So I was trying to update my BIOS for my Clevo N150RD from PC specialist because I was having problems with the NVME SSD overheating. I googled and found an updated N150RD Bios from Eluktronics for what seemed to be a clone of the same laptop (slightly different though). Anyway I installed the new BIOS and the I started having problems with my PC. Now I can't use the NVME SSD anymore, I can see it in storage devices, I tried installing windows on it and throws me the "Critical service died" error all the time. I think maybe this BIOS might not be compatible with NVME.

Anyway, I can still use a regular SSD on my laptop now so I haven't killed it completely with the wrong BIOS lol, I just need to flash the old BIOS back. The old Bios was listed as 1.05.11TPCS and the new one from Eluktronics is 1.05.12TEI. Unfortunately the BIOS utility did not backup my old Bios and I can't find mine anywhere.

If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks

You are a star, thanks alot. I tried searching online but could not find that website. Hopefully reverting will solve my problem. Thanks again

Edit : Can you help me with flashing BIOS instructions? It says there to enter BIOS and disable UEFI and the enter pure DOS environment and run the MESET.exe. How do I enter the pure DOS environment? Thanks

BE WARNED Most Clevo's will brick if try to downgrade the Bios.

Try resetting the bios first (Back to factory defaults) and try installing Windows, see if that works

Ok, so my laptop now works with that Eluktroniks N150RD 1.05.12TEI Bios I installed from the Eluktronics website (without the NVME). From the link you sent me I found there is an updated version of BIOS for my laptop , a 1.05.15. Do you think it is safe to upgrade from the Eluktronics one back to a clevo one? Thanks

In theory you should be ok. With Clevo's as long as you are upgrading it should be ok. Bricking happens when you attempt downgrade (not normally recoverable).

I would hold off for now and contact Mr Fox, John@OBSIDIAN-PC or Prema (here in the forums) they are true Gods of all things Clevo

Will do that, thanks for the advice. I don't want to brick my laptop. Anyway my problems started after I tried installing a NVME SSd in the empty slot on the motherboard, the first one I tried a Lite-ON 256gb and that one was running very hot, idling at about 78C. I returned that and then tried a Toshiba 256gb and this one idles at about 72C. So at this moment I was thinking there is a problem with my laptop and wanted to upgrade the BIOS.
Do you think these temperatures are normal for a NVME SSD inside a laptop? I heard these things run hot but that is way too hot, I am afraid it might damage the motherboard.

My Tosh RD400 NVME idles at 65c in a Clevo P870DM/2 and the Samsung 960 Pro I've got in a tower desktop idles about 70/73C.

    So yes they run hot

Thanks for all your help. I couldn't wait anymore so I went ahead and updated my Bios to the latest 1.05.15 from the site you gave me. Worked great. My laptop can boot again from the NVME drive and the drive is idling now at 64-65C, which is about 7-8 degrees cooler than before.

    Thanks again

You do have some fairly beefy CPUs in these things now to cope with the high data rates you can see.
