As I've been reading into it, you have to be very careful which GPU model you pick as not all of them are compatible with the p170hm series of notebooks.

My GTX485m is fried and I need a replacement gpu similar to the power of the gtx 485m in the $400-600 range.

Ebay links would be helpful, I am in the US so I can't really do UK websites.

I would recommend the GTX 680M. The problem is only used ones are in the $600 price range and it is not worth getting a 485M again. The 680M is a lot faster and a worthy upgrade. You should still take a look at this listing though https://tinyurl.com/bcnk8qb

Note the few negative feedbacks though. I would always go for the entire kit because I could never be bothered to mess with rearranging thermal pads. The GTX 485M heatsink is identical to the GTX 680M from what I remember but I still just got the whole kit. You just install it as usual and use a modified Driver or one from my sig.

Prema is working on getting the GTX 780M working in the P170Hm as well.

Good news is the 680M is going to give you a large performance increase at least.
