Hi guys, I recently bought a clevo p150em. I was excited as I got quite a good deal for the price!
1700 with a coupon got me
    a 3820 processor
    NVIDIA GTX 680
    8 GB OF RAM
    750 GB HARDDRIVE.

Today it finally arrived, and boy is it beautiful. Nice keyboard, good screen, but then I checked the graphics card..

    GTX 675M

I paid for a top of the line graphics card and I got this?

I contacted him and he is offering me 125 recourse, which I thought was quite low. Thats why I came to you guys, the experts to help me out. How much money do I reserve?

    Thank you very much,
    Thomas

I'd return the laptop alltogether for a full refund.

    A mere $125 wont cover a change to gtx680m.
And to get one, you need to pay $500-$600 and sell the gtx675m, which is too much wasted effort.

Return the machine, get your money back, and buy from a reseller!
You will get something like 3630qm + gtx680m for $1500 (maybe even better).
And it will have warranty on it.

Just my 2 cents, but I would return it. the 680M is the top of the line card (Nvidia), with the 675MX below it. The 675M (Not MX) is a fermi card (older architectuve, not the new kepler series)

If you got the 675MX instead of the 680, youre looking at around a $300 USD price difference. No idea what the gap would be between a 680 and a 675M, but it would be even more.

I would return it, and purchase your system from a Sager/Clevo reseller based where you live.

    hi
looking at your previous posts i see it was bought in america and it was second hand (the more info we have the better).

was it a private sale or from a reseller or was it on ebay?
also how did you check that it was actually a 675 and not a 680

if he has now turned round and offered you some money back then it does sound like he was trying to pull a fast one on you.
i have no idea of market value in the states between a 675 and 680 so hopefully someone else could advise on this.

if it said on the ebay page that it had a 680 then i would certainly dispute it as thats fraudulent. if you are happy with the laptop then i would tell the seller hes got to come up with a better refund for the graphics card or you will pass it over to ebay as false advertising.

just to double check download HWinfo64 from my sig below as that will show all the hardware in the lappy.

also take a look at xoticpc and configure the exact same model which will come with a full warranty Gaming Laptops - XOTIC PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks

Those cards are about $300 different, I'd ask for that much back and only if you'll be ok with the 675M. If you're set on the 680M or newer 675MX i'd just return the computer and get a refund.

The best idea is to return it. Who knows what else might be wrong with it.

Final question; do you guys think this graphics card is strong enough for modern day gaming?

It is still a good video card, you wont be able to run all games for over 30FPS on max settings but even the 680M or 7970M have problems doing that. You'll get great results on High settings on most games though.

It's a $300 difference base on Xoticpc and powernotebooks website. That price difference is offered by resellers. And if you want to upgrade the spec after receiving the laptop from resellers, it's going to cost at least $50 - $60 for round trip shipping plus insurance on a $2000 item (that's how much your lappy is going to cost). That will push to around $350.

However, I think the actual price difference is more like $400 to $500. You can sell that card for around $300. Buying a new card cost around $700. Difference right here is $400 already. Now, when you Including shipping cost, ebay charges, and paypal charges, you are looking more like pushing $500. I will not take anything less than $500. Reason, wrong information resulted in purchasing wrong product. Plus, the hassle and trouble to upgrade to 680m myself.

However, it is your decision and this is just my opinion. The simplest way is returning the laptop and call off this deal.

Return it for a full refund ASAP.

Yes, it could have been an oversight of the seller's, but if he had known to try to get more money out of the sale what else is he hiding?

I'd rather return it instead of having to find out what else he's lying about.

    Is it a 675m? Or a 675mx? If it's a 675m, the difference is much greater. Either way, I'd want a refund.

It's a 675m base on the first post.
