    I pulled the trigger on a D901C... I'm scared!

I did it! I DID IT! I ordered a barebones D901C from RJTech with:

    17" WUXGA (1920x1200) GlassView LCD
    Single nVidia 8800M GTX 512MB
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 from Microcenter for $199
    GeIL 4GB DDR2/800 from Newegg for $105
2 x HITACHI Travelstar 7K200 200GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive from Newegg for $165 each
    8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
    Bluetooth, Wireless 802.11 ABGN

All of this for $2873 shipped. I didn't need to Blu-ray drive nor the higher cost of the Q6700. I wanted to wait for the Q9450, but no one knows when it will be available for the Clevo D901C, so I'm hoping that a BIOS update will make it work instead of a motherboard replacement. I just couldn't keep waiting. Let's hope I get this up and running with no problems. My justification is to use this for work (running SQL Server, IIS, Project Server, VMware instances, browsers, etc) and then GaMeZ gAmEz !! Of course, my primary OS will be Ubuntu will WMware as needed. Then reboot into XP for games. I don't think Vista is going to step foot into my system. Maybe I'll play with OS X later on when I have more time.

    Feels good, doesn't it?

Well, the good news is that your laptop is really not that hard to take apart. You might want to read up on 6edo's post for some RJTech related pictures if you haven't checked the thread out yet.

I've never had any issues dorking around the inside of Clevo's computers, and the D901C seems to have a very straightforward interior. So, good luck!
