    I receive my 170EM

    Got my laptop today 170EM 3610 8GB 7970 from private seller.It's german version with grman keyboard.First think I would like to replace my keyboard.I install fresh system and divers from cd.

    I have few questions.How to check temp on this machine.HWmonitor don't see GPU and I dont know my idle temp.I just browsing on the forum and gpu fan is running fast.No full speed but fast.Air that coming out is cold.I dont know why is running so fast.Also I am not able to run kombustor.Got message "d3dcomplier 2 dll is missin".

    Looks like dx isnt installed, Download up to date dx and install it. Than when you wanna see your gpu in programs like HWinfo you need to run kombuster first, Than It'l be detected In other programs. You can also monitro temps with MSI afterburner

    dx = directx

    also in HWMonitor when running the 7970M, it is still shown as HD 4000 but will still show the temperatures nevertheless.

    your drivers arent installed correctly. i would reformat and install them one by one in the order they are on the disc and restart after each one. kombuster should have installed direct X when you downloaded it from MSI.

    I have the same problem.

    That's what I also thought. In fact, I saw the installation happen right before my eyes. I still get the error.

    I reinstall and install divers
    I reistall kombuster and still cant run

    gpu fan run fast but not full speed

    update:now suddenly gpu fan stop

    depending on how you are "reinstalling" your drivers you are only making things worse. I would just reformat and install everything 1 at a time in the order they are on the disc and restart after each item you install

    I see 7970 in device menager but if I run Funmark I see wimbledon and no temps
    omg all over again :(

    kombustor is working

    I go into kombustor folder than into directXinstall folder and install directx manually
    but kombustor show me only integadet gpu

    I did that and now it's working. It only shows up as AMD Wimbledon XT but where it says my GPU it has the Intel HD 4000. Nonetheless, the scores looks like it belongs to the 7970M. The highest temp I recorded was 83* C. This is the highest I've ever seen it go at 99% GPU load.

    gpu fan run fast and dont know why
    I was able to check idle temp once and it was 41
    Now again I dont see gpu temp in hwmonitor

    same thing happen to me. it will become 0 if 7970m is not in use.
    go for gaming and it will show the temp. also you can use msi afterburner with gpu-z in the background

    for "d3dcomplier 2 dll is missin" problem, just google it and you can download the dll files from those dll websites, there will be serveral dlls missing, just download and save them to the target folder and everything will be fine. and you may need to install directx 9 update as well.

    I try furmaark and show temp but when I finish furmark the fan will run at high until I restart my laptop

    kombustor,I am able to turn in on but not able to run test,all buttons are white
    hwmonitor no temps for gpu

    I install drivr from amd website and no difference

    There should be a way to add MSIKombustorDX11.exe into the enduro profile and force it run only on the HD7970M.

    when i open furmark i use the gpu shark program that you launch from within furmark, runs good for me, tried gpu-z that didnt work.
