So I was configuring the m570 that I was going to buy and shopping around and figured I would see what my Dell sales rep could get on a 1730 if I hammered him. (My company spends a ton through them every year).

He ended up getting me a fully loaded 1730 with the x9000, 2x200 7200 rpm drives, SLI 8800m's, 4 year warranty with complete care, etc for 3479. Basically taking no commision on it and getting me every discount possible under the sun since I get him so much business.

    So I ordered it.

Just wanted to stop by and say everyone here on the Clevo forum has been great the past few months while I researched what to buy and I appreciate all the help.

You can now Lynch/Flame me for going over to the dark side

Who's gonna fault ya for taking the best deal you could find? That's one of the principal points of a Clevo/Sager (for me, at least), so if you managed to find a better deal elsewhere, I say take it. (BTW, any chance of signing up a few new ... "employees" from the, uh ... notebook review division? :D ).

Heh my sales rep basically told me hes going to get chewed out by his manager for giving me the price he did. But if you know someone that has a company that spends a ton with Dell it's worth a shot seeing what their rep can do for you.

I'm not counting on getting it to fast since I got free shipping, but hopefully there are no crazy problems.

EDIT: And if I thought I could get more of them at that price I would probably start an E-bay business ;).

    She's here!

Well been playing with her and out of the box with just updating driver to 174.31 I got 14128 3dmarks. Not bad at all.

Reformatting and setting up my dual boot now, see what I can get after I have XP loaded with no bloat.

Lol I've never been a big fan of talking on the phone either but when I started my own business I just had to get over it.

Got a 14922 after loading XP and doing some conservative OCing. Thinking I'll get her over 15k and call it good =).

I'm going to stop posting here before things get ugly. But I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the sager/clevo forum for all the help over the past few months. I've enjoyed lurking here.

Nice buy man. Between the two IMHO is really a question of getting the best deal as for video performance they are on par, so on RAID options. In Europe, the best deal I've seen advertised is really on the DELL field.

    Have fun,

    Trance

Nice deal you got on your hands there ! Very nice ;) Dont think anyone can blame you on picking that one ;)

TBH 2 weeks after I bought this one (had to chose between the one I have in my sig and the M1730), I had a bad taste in my mouth, as I saw the DELL only priced 150$ more than the M57x, almost regreat that I bought this one :p Tho im happy with this lap, and didn't really want to go through the troubles, having to return this one (warranty deal, swithced with other lap) ;)

But yes, in europe it seems that most of the time, Dell has some very nice deals that is hard to resist, as its just a matter of a few hundred $ to go from many entry-consumer notebooks to a fairly good Dell.

The one I have now, costs 17.500 DKr equal to around 3500 $ and the Dell at that time had a 18.500 DKr pricetag ~3700 $, with 2x 160gb 7200 hd's, 2 gb ram and a T9300, not to forget the 8800 SLI part, thats a bit of an improvement for 200$ ;)

Yes, "special" notebook brands have a high pricetag here in denmark :(
