I mean, how the [heck - watch the language - Thanks, NBR staff] can u release a notebook class card that consumes 75W. Thats just ridiculous. They have almost no competition on this market so they can have the prices as high as they want to but they still prefer to spit on notebook gamers. I really cant have a desktop, I m on the move every time. We used to have a 15.4 with a top GTX card before but now nvidia needs a 7' factor for this card to be running. We probably wont see a GTX SLI in 17' so we have to wait for a new 19-20' Clevo model. I am really disappointed.

Where did you see that? I'm pretty sure notebookcheck made an error since they also list them for MXM 3, which is 35W. It's impossible that the 9800M GTX consumes more than 2x what the 8800M GTX consumes, they are the same chips

It was nobetookcheck, they have the GTX listed as 75W and the GT as 65, as far as I remember. Now that the M860TU wont be available with the GTX ever, makes me sad as well.

How the heck can you actually think there is a 75w graphics card for notebooks. This thread should be locked and deleted completely pointless and more like spamming.

The 9800m gt is a 8800m gtx. I sure hope you aren't talking about the 9800m gtx, because there is a big sticky at the top in nice big letter that clearly says it is not accepted.

lol, this is totally retarded. First of all, you need to do much more research if you want to complain like that. Second, if you don't like the power consumption go integrated. Sorry if the tech world hasn't matched your expectations of 35 mw video cards. There is always a compromise between power and battery life.

It's what notebookcheck says and everyone is under panic. There's no way the 9700M GT consumes 45W, 9700M GTS/9800M GT/S 60W and 9800M GTX 75W if you ask me, not after the 8800M GTX consumming 35W

    Especially the 9700M GT

Those wattages are way too high, more than what most notebooks consume altogether... maybe they confused them with desktop models.

I am scared. I want to get the 9800GTX in SLI but there are no words about it except: 'There is no ETA"

Putting aside all the GPU W talk for a second there will be 9800M GTX SLI in the 17" D901C and as long as the drivers are up to scratch straight away it will be a matter of weeks away :)

DOH thought we were talking about the GT not GTX

Thanks Neil for the info. We re talking about the GTX. I ve read on notebookcheck that it consumes 75W and since sager abandoned the GTX from the M860 I thought that was true and we ll never see the GTX SLI in the 901. Thanks for straightening it out ;) kudos to u

I don't know but what would a pretty crazy notebook with a ~210W power consumption. What kind of power adapter would that have?

    They were just wrong.
Notebookcheck FEEDS bad and inaccurate information! You can use it as some kind of reference, but take everything they see with a bucket of salt.

i too noticed the discrepancies on notebookcheck and was quite worried by them. can a reseller please clarify the differences in power consumption of the 9m series cards for us?

Paladin and other resellers have repeatedly stated that there is barely any difference between the 9800M GT and the 8800M GTX.

right, but the power figure i was going on for the 8800gtx (35w) was also from notebookcheck, so i am now questioning that as well. also, i am curious to know the exact differences between different cards in the 98xxm, 97xxm, and 96xxm series'

Guys, I shot an email off to nVidia inquiring as to what the power consumption is...they said they'd get back to me within 24 hours, let's see how that promise holds up.

EDIT: Additionally, I haven't a clue where Notebookcheck got their power consumption number from; I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

    Here's the email I received.

    "Hello Matthew,

I'm very sorry but mobile GPU power and thermal dynamics information is unfortunately not within the public domain. This is only available to laptop design manufactures.

    Best Regards,

Kind of makes you wonder where NotebookCheck gets their information from...
