I know that Compal makes the IFL90, then sends them to Sager which makes them NP2090's ( i think...?) But now I'm confused about the XoticPC and PowerNotebooks branding- is the Force, Supra, etc. a different "brand?" Are they any different from the Compal IFL90? Different testing perhaps?

Forgive me if there is an obvious answer to this question

Sager makes the 2090, which XoticPC calls the Force something, while Powernotebooks makes the Power Pro which isn't a Sager, just an IFL90 AFIK

Each models are "white boxes" that usually come from Clevo or Compal... resellers then rebrand these to sell them under their own model numbers. The white boxes are not fully functionnal - they are missing CPU, memory, Hard disk, video card. That's what makes them configurable.

As for the IFL90, whatever resseller you chose, it will still be a Compal IFL90. Sager calls it NP2090.

Actually the resellers brand the computers, not rebrand. ;) But that's a small technicality.

Sager does not make laptops, they just buy whitebooks and put watever component they want in it. Then sell them as sager notebooks.

Any laptop called Sager NP2090 and such are Compal IFL90.

You'll see on xoticpc.com both NP2090 and Compal IFL90, they are exactly the same laptop.

I'm pretty sure it'll be branded XoticPc and not Force. ;)

I was under the impression that xoticpc/powernotebooks don't slap their logo onto the Sagers that they sell. Do they?

If you ordered the Sager 2090, then I'm pretty sure it'll say Sager. If you got the Force 3297 which is Xotic's brand of the Compal IFL 90, then I think it'll be branded Xotic Pc. Like their logo. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, theres a little rectangle slot for a "sticker".
Its not a paper sticker, just a sticking logo... you can most likely take it off... or it will get off by itself lol :p

I'd asked Justin about this before I ordered a Compal IFL90 from xoticpc. Attached is the photo he sent me of their logo. He explained that it just sticks into the recess on the lcd backplate. I'm assuming you can get behind it with a piece of stiff wax paper (think mailing label backing) and peel it right out. Then you can put something of your own there, and stick the logo to the wax paper in case you ever want to use it again, say if you resell the laptop. I was taught that trick when I worked for Compaq, works for re-seating misaligned windows COA labels. :D

Edit: Actually, looking at that again, it looks metallic. You can probably just peel it up with a fingernail instead of making a production out of it like I suggested. Duh!
