I have ordered a Malibal Lotus p150hm and in the configuration I added the IC Diamond 7 Thermal Compound, CPU & GPU. Is there a way to check if you have it or not?

hmm very good question. I think the only option you have is to check the temps and compare with others. However, various environments result in a few degrees different.

You don't want to open it up and check because:
    1. you may mess up the paste
    2. normally with such premium paste, you keep that part of the computer unopened for more than a year
    3. you can hardly tell the difference...

thanks for the info. I have read a little and I think its only possible as you said to open the laptop. So my guess is that I trust Malibal to do the job.

Its more about how it is applied rather than the compound itself. I had MX4 applied to mine during purchase in the UK and fired up a stress test and my GPU temps shot to 115oC within 5 seconds.

Opened her up and only half the DIE was covered. Not impressed. I reapplied ICD myself like I normally do and dont see above 86oC on the maximum shader temp now even with my overclocks.

GPU: 34oC at complete IDLE and 79oC -86.5oC Furmark burn in test maximum across the board

CPU: 39oC at complete IDLE and 66oC max after an hour Prime test.

ICD is a winner for me I have tried other compound and it smashes every one I have tried I wont be changing.

Hey Yiddo, I do wonder how resellers apply "premium/more $" paste to our machines.
And how did you apply ICD ? just blob ?

Yea, applying thermal paste is something I usually like to do myself, since as mentioned, application is key.

My favourite is the Zalman stuff that comes with a nail polish brush type applicator because I know I got it covered perfectly, and its performance is pretty impressive.

ICD blob method always works primarily especially on the CPU because the cores which produce the most heat are located in the centre of the DIE, however if you like full coverage you can do a short line horizonatally to cover the entire chip. The way in which ICD works is because of its thickness the compression by the heatsink acts as its spreader so there is no need to mess around with it which also makes it a great thermal compound for beginners and prevents uneven contact and bubbles forming by applying the compound using a credit card for instance.

I like to apply a short thick line of ICD on the GPU as well even more so with the 6990M because the DIE area is quite large and the difference to the CPU being that the GPU DIE has vital memory controllers that are normally located near the edge of the chip so it is important to make sure you get complete coverage.
