I noticed there is a small IR receiver on the front of this notebook. Will I be able to use a remote control (such my my media centers Microsoft MCE remote) with it? Tried it out of the box and no dice, also did not see any specific 'special' drivers for it on the website.

Windows 7 usually downloads them automatically and yes - you can use the IR remote. Check your Device Manager to see if the IR driver is installed.

Actually I don't see it, usually it's named something obvious, so maybe I need drivers. Hurm.

Nope, not listed on mine. Can't seem to find drivers for it either.

System > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > No, let me choose what to do > 2nd option > Perform a windows update

    See it that helps.

He may not have it. The IR receiver is not a stock option in the Clevo barebones. While it's available, it's not there by default. My P150HM for example, does not have the module installed.

Nope nothing has helped, that's disappointing, I saw the receiver lense on the front and was excited to possibly be able to use my remote. It's not a HUGE deal really, just kind of a let down :>

Perhaps contact your reseller and see if you can buy the module off of them and install it yourself?

You can always get an external USB IR receiver if you need one. I use one so that I can make use of my media center remote. It works pretty well that way :)

Yea I have this setup for my current media center setup (not the notebook) and it works well. I was just hoping for a more portable solution. I'm ok with just launching videos straight from explorer.
