    Hey guys,

The idle temperature reported by RivaTuner for my videocard keeps going up. It started at a steady 48 (this is including the +5 I added to the temperature to make it seem right), and now it's at a steady 51. It's been gradually going up over the days. I blew some compressed air into the vents in the back, but that didn't help. The only things I have open on my computer are firefox, some powerpoints which are minimized, and a terminal shell. Why does the temperature keep going up?

Which system is it (Clevo/Sager produce more than one :D)? Also, check out Gophn's cleaning guide and apply all of the steps there - you should probably open it up and make sure the compressed air did some good.

Take the laptop off the back of your shaggy dog.

I mean, make sure it's on a flat, hard surface.

Sounds fine to me, 51c is actually a good idle temp for a gpu. Max temps is what you should be worried about.

    How old is the notebook?

It's a NP5793; I just got it like 5 months ago. It's lying on the flat, hard surface of my table. Do I really have to open it up to clean it? I'm afraid of just messing it up even more.

Follow the guide and you should be fine, if the temps still worry you after the cleaning get a laptop cooler.
