If you dont purchase a OS, it will not be provided or loaded when delivered. A OS is installed for testing purposes and then removed prior to shipment. :)

A lot of compagnies don't send you an OS disk because they incorporate restoration softwares already installed on the laptop but you do get an OS on the laptop nontheless.

I'm not ordering an OS either, but what about drivers? Will companies usually ship a CD anyway?

most of the OEMs (Dell, HP, Sony, etc...) will not ship the CD... rather they make a lame partition in the HDD for "recovery"... wiping off all the data to factory default settings.

the good OEMs leave you with the OEM disc so that you can re-install, repair, etc at your leisure.

Dell will ship you the CD but they charge you an extra 10 bucks for the media. Not sure about the other OEMs but I'm sure they have a similar option?

But yeah that partition annoys me. It's not that much more convenient than a clean rebuild from CD. Maybe for the non tech types it is I dunno.

EDIT: Ofcourse not doh! The key's got nothing to do with the disc itself...

Another question: Will the windows original DVD be sent in the original box and stuff ? Like this :
? That would be cool to have.... :D
Or just the DVD with a bunch of others (like driver CDs) ?
Also does the disc have the key with it ? I'm new to having a "legit" OS... :p

No. The version you will get will be an OEM version, not a retail or upgrade box--It's up to the OEM what format the box will be--maybe a case, maybe an envelope, maybe a cd-case.

Never got an OS from a Sager reseller, so I cannot say

Sager supplies a OEM CD that is used for installation if ever needed. It does not come in a Retail Box.

Alright. That's fine! :) Is there any difference between "Retail" and "OEM". I still have all the same features right ?
Secondly, I heard somewhere that Vista Ultimate delivers better gaming performance than Vista Home Premium, is that true, or just a rumour-from-a-retard ?

Same features :) You would expect the same gaming performance from Home Premium or Ultimate.

Vista Ultimate is a waste of money.

There are no value added features for Ultimate users as promised. They have pretty much folded the tent on adding any.

Home Premium is the way to go for Vista. The only thing you get for your money with Ultimate is the name.

well, that is basically true (you get a couple of games and dreamscenes), but if that is why you were getting Ultimate, then you probably shouldn't have.

Ultimate give you (basically) Vista windows media edition PLUS the ability to connect to domains and full system backup.

Business lacks the windows media edition enhancements
Home lacks the ability to hook up to a domain and do complete backups

For me, the ability to hook up to a domain was the deal breaker---I sometimes need it, otherwise I would have gone home premium,
