If you have a 6990m, stick with Clevo Drivers for now!!!!

For those of you who don't know, the AMD 6990m performance becomes highly hindered if you install the Catalyst 11.8 Driver from online. For example there have been people getting around 250 fps in CS Source with Clevo Drivers, but with Catalyst 11.8 Drivers the FPS goes to around 50. Furthermore under 11.8, the 6990m is known as the 6900m, while with Clevo drivers it's the 6990m. So for now...stick with the Clevo Driver.

Also if you're doing any benchmarks--please make sure it's the Clevo Driver.

    Just a heads up.

EDIT: see graph in this thread, notice the Clevo Driver performs far better than even the 11.8: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/602585-malibal-6990m-stock-ready-ship-15.html

How about providing a link to the Clevo drivers for the folks who don't know where to find them.

This thread is useless without a link.

It´s normal that in GPU-Z and others applications the card is shown as "6900m series". Nothing to worry about. Had 6970m´s and it was the same thing. In the clevo drivers they put just some kind of string so that it appeared as the "6970m" or now as "6990m". The drivers from AMD worked fine and did improve things.
I don´t know about the other problem, maybe something went wrong while driver sweeping.

It's on the Sager/Clevo CD that comes with your notebook if you get the 6990m. Hopefully the 11.9 Catalyst Drivers next month will resolve the issues.

Some people have reported that even after uninstalling the Catalyst driver, and then installing the Clevo drivers back--the FPS drop still persists.

btw, anyone know where the thread about "best drivers for 6990m" is? I can't find it anywhere! it has a lot more info on this matter.

Currently upgraded to 8.890.0.0 drivers and I've haven't seen much of a difference in 3d vantage/11 score.
