Hi guys,i just had a crazy idea to instal 2 extra fans on my brothers (kolias) P150HM,anyway i just got 2 days ago the second fan from ebay, and i was ready to start modding it.
I used 2 40x40x06 5volts 6000 RPM fans for it,as the mayne fans of the laptop use 5v.![]()
So i cut the wires from the mayne fans and i conect them with a soldering iron in parralel with the new fans![]()

![]()
Here is the fan for the CPU which i glued it with siliconeon the heatsink![]()
and here is the GPU fan :![]()
Here is the foto with the instald fans :![]()
![]()
![]()
And here is the foto running all fans at full speed, just to test if any fan wasent instald correct
![]()
here is the final foto running the fans at windows![]()
Now for the temp. before the fans my brother was running the GTX 680M BF3 with overvoltage 1.00v and 980mhz and 2380 mhz memm.77-79c and after the instalation of the fans ,never exceed 68c at full load !!!!!!!!!![]()
EDIT: Video on youtube playing BF3 everything on ULTRA for 25 min. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cljMRHtcIX0
BIG EDIT:I made some improvements on the air cooling even more
,i made the mode for the big fans, and the mod with the aluminum foil for the heatsinks:

and here is the last foto with everything ready to roll:
![]()
RESULTS: Ok guys time for the numbers, with all the mods install the temps went down from 68c (from the previous modding) to 62c max(room temp 27c)!!!!!!! (Long playing BF3 with overvoltage 1.000v and 920mhz on the 680m)![]()

Nice Mod and pics. Do you have any before and after temps?
Great I see you added the temps, thats a very nice drop! -
nice job! How does the back cover fit on now? Any space problems? I am sure many would be interested in seeing a more detailed guide about how you did (steps, instructions, additional materials)

Sweet Job! Looks pretty cool
-
That looks great! But does the back cover has any problem fitting in now?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There is enough space for thin fans like those to fit and from the pictures you can see it has screwed on fine.
-
As Meaker said we dident had any fiting problems, but actualy we could use more biger fans, like 50x50x06 or a 60x60x06 maybe later, anyway the temps we test it was verry cool,we test it on room temp(20c),i think it help too the extra cooler master base for the laptop that it have 3 extra fans blowing the bottom of the laptop!!!!we going to make a video to show you the temps.
-
PVC plastic starts melting at 75'C...sitting those fans directly on the heatsink top might not be a good idea.
But hell, you also have a cooling pad.
Good mod!
Wish you had done a better job in cutting the holes on the bottom, though....looks a little ghetto.
But still, good mod. -
-
nice mod!
i was thinking about something like this too, i wanted to fix new fan on the cover and use external energy from cooling pad. but i dont want to ruin original notebooks parts and i cant find where to buy some spare parts for it -
Just contact your reseller for spare parts. Bottom panel might cost you $20 shipped, but worth it imho.
-
Yea i payed 15euros for that also, and its worth it.
-
Cool, I got two small fans, I'll give this mod a go tomorrow.

I'm looking at the pictures, but I can't see the mounting means for the fans. How did you mount the fans?
-
pretty cool stuff, did something similar with my asus C90S
still looking into improving my CPU temps since they get pretty high with my monster OC
@mighty: he said he used silicone to glue the fans onto the heatsinks -

Oic. Hey, maybe we should add the fans on top of our ram heat sink mod? Personally, I think it will work better with the combination.

So how much does this mod do vs just taking the bottom cover off?

Remove the bottom cover, place laptop on the cooler and profit?????? -
I do that, but it exposes all the guts, if you transfer your laptop frequently, not ideal. But if it sits in place most of the time, not a bad idea.
Now just add some of those stick on RAM heatsinks and see how it improves cooling if at all. -

the big fans that youre laptop have dosent only cool down youre cpu and GPU,it cools down youre whole computers internals. When youre fans spin it dosent only sucks air from outside but and inside youre laptops hot air!!!! ,only when you have the cover on,if you take the cover off you ruine the air circulation ,and it dosent cool off efficiently. -

In fact the air with the backplate on can't really get in so tends not to provide any benefit.

When my brother running a game specialy BF3 and play for long time and the fans start spining at 6000 rpms(btw the one on the GPU is SUNON fan,and the other one is thermaltech),if you put youre hand under the laptop you feel how powerfull they suck the air from the custom vens!!!

wow, thats harsh for basically just a piece of plastic.... maybe u could try here as well: http://www.clevo-computer.de/

As i promise a video playing BF3 everything on ULTRA 1080p (the quality of the video is not so good i rec on my nokia 5800, but you can see the stats very clear njoy
CLEVO P150HM 2 EXTRA FANS (ON THE TOP OF CPU,AND GPU) - YouTube -

If you are going to remove the bottom pad, doing that and putting ramsinks on the GPU and CPU works wonders, it's just not very portable.
-
)to put on the CPU and GPU heatpipes, and maybe later on,we gona buy bigger fans (50x50x06 or 60x60x06 we measure the space inside the laptop and the max fans we can put is 60x60x06)I dont move my laptop a lot almost never, maybe on the summer for vacation, but all the time i have it on my desk.

If I wanted to run my 680m beyond 1ghz I had to do it because than fan only kicks into full at 90c, the throttle point for clevo 680m cards.
-
Question - what is the risk of dust/debris frying the system if you leave the back cover off?
-
none if u make sure to give ur machine a good clean every 3 months or so
which is recommended no matter what kinda rig/config/cooling solution ure using btw

About a week ago, before the fans modding, we flash the 680m with svl 1.050v ,the card runs stable only at 1040mhz and we test it on BF3 and after 15 min of game play we saw the temp of GPU reaching at 82 max and my brother got scared and we flash it back to 1.000v,well i dont know yet how cooler is gona run at 1.050V after this modding,i guess a lot more cooler now

no reason to be scared of a gpu at 82C tho
and yeah, crossfire is right, ull have to make sure to somehow elevate the back of ur laptop so as for the heatsinks not to touch ur desk and be supporting the weight of the laptop on their own...

I have the coolermaster u3, so assuming I took the cover off, put some gatorade caps to help elevate it, and placed it on cooler without cover, wouldnt I have a lost of dust and such flying right into the machine?
-
Mighty_Benduru Notebook Consultant
Dust is not going to kill your computer. When I used to smoke in the house, my old computer is packed with dust. There was so much dust that I actually have to get a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the dust.
Ideally, you never want to leave any live circuits open, even though it is low voltage. The back plate will prevent any accidental contact that will short out the circuits.
I'm very tempted to do this mod too. The fans will work extremely well with the ram heatsinks I've installed. However, just wondering about the clearance. There's enough room for the heatsink. There's enough room for the fans. However, is there enough room for both the heatsink and fans? -

You could be pretty ghetto and cut a hole over the GPU, put tall ramsinks on and have the cooler blowing on them

Just be aware if you want to take it anywhere then that will be hot and exposed.
-

Or I can keep this extremely simple. Put a couple of small ventilation openings right on top of the GPU heatsink. That should improve the airflow in that area. If that doesn't work, the ventilation openings can always be easily sealed by aluminium tape.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well the same as the fan mod in the original post but with heatsinks instead of the fans on top of a cooling pad would work.

I edit some new air cooling performance mods on the first post!!!!!!!

was wondering the same thing
looks almost professional

Looks very good, professional i would say too.
Hm, maybe i have to order a second backplate and modify some things
Improving P150HM GPU and CPU fan cooling performance (instaling 2 extra fans)!!!!!
