hello.
i bought the sager NP8250-S and i am thinking to add the extra copper cooling my self. the NP8250-S got some ventilation under the GPU and CPU on its back cover so i think with a note pad cooler under that. the copper cooling will work . or what do you think guys, thanks![]()

Maybe one or two under the GPU part on the top of the heatsink, but otherwise you will just block the airflow.

Hello NB gurus ... Question.. Is it also good to foil those copper pipes (aside from gapping the fan and heatsink)? tnx

opinions vary on that, some say its better to cover the fins as well, whereas others reported that the foil covering the gaps should be as thin as possible. i guess the only way to find out is to check it out urself

I have a question as to what kind of tape can be used to seal the air gaps? Also, do you think it matters that the end of the heatsink is raised upwards slightly so the air going through is in a slightly diagonal manner.

From a point of view, notepad cooler don't necessary drop your temperature. It's more like preventing you from blocking the airflow since laptop intake is at the bottom. My experience tells me in makes no difference whether if the notebook cooler is turned on or off. But it does make a difference if the bottom is raised to prevent blocking of airflow.
What do you mean exactly copper cooling? Do you mean those RAM copper heatsinks and you are planning to stick them onto the GPU and CPU pipes and heatsink? If that is what you are thinking, don't waste your money. Click on page 37 of this thread and you can see the mod. It does not work, and in fact may increase your temperature. This mod was also done and posted on this thread. End of the day, it's how fast you can get rid of the heat. By increasing the copper mass, you are actually accumulating more heat inside your laptop. Your rate of heat dissipation does not change, because your heatsink fins are still the same, and your fan airflow is still the same. It's only storing more heat inside because of the increased thermal mass.
The best mod which I think is to directly add a 5 mm thick fan onto the heatsink. There's enough room for a thin fan to be installed and the 5 V can be splice and tap of from the other fan. Someone here did a mod, but I think he/she removed the pictures.
