    Hi All,

I posted about the lack of communication from Kobalt Computers a while ago.
In order to give some balance things have got a lot better.

I ordered my computer on 20th December and it arrived 27th Jan. To my mind this is quite OK. I was just anooyed that I was given a date of 10th Jan and got no feedback. Anyway this has all been addressed by Neil so no need to expand further. Since a flurry of emails contact has been very good.

    Down to the Nitty Gritty. I ordered a G890 (X8100), i7 940XM, 2 GTX460m SLI, 8GB Mem, 256 Crucial SSD, and 2 500Gb Seagate momentus drives with 4Gb SSD integrated.

This is an absolutely amazing machine. Heavy - more of a desk than a desktop replacement but I save money on gym membership :)

It is SOOO fast. And really quiet. Just been using it for sensible stuff (work) so far but will try games etc tonight - Mafia 2 should give an idea of how it can perform.

So to summarise I can heartily recommend Kobalt from my experience. They do have (or at least have had) some issues in regards to communication but this aside the rest of the experience has been good.

I'd ike to wish them well for the future and thanks again for a most gob smacking piece of kit. Got to get back to work now :(

    Best Regards . . .
    Rich

I know, I am looking at them really closely.

Congrats on your new lappy too! I just got my order confirmation for my G970x :D Hopefully it'll be done really quickly.

As for communication, I don't exactly have much trouble with it. This guy called Andy replies to my questions really quickly :p

After the Sandybridge chip fiasco, I am considering changing my order to the G970X with a GTX 485M. My original order was for a G170 but my confidence in that and Sandybridge is really low now.

If I do get a G90x, I will eventually upgrade to the 6 Core or at least a 32nm chip.
