I received my X8100 yesterday and all was going well for the first couple of hours that I had it. After that though, big problems.

I installed Windows 7 and was playing around for a while on it then decided to install the drivers from the CD. They installed easy but when I went to reboot my computer, the lights came on, the monitor did not, and it just did nothing after that for several minutes.

I shut down from the power button and restarted. The computer booted up, the screen came on, and then nothing. The screen was on though, but blank.

Now, after trying to restart several more times, I'm back to what happened the first time. Lights come on, no screen, just black, and nothing. I can't boot in to safe mode, I can't reinstall Windows 7 or Ubuntu, nothing.

What in the hell is going on and is there anything I can do about it without having to send it back?

hi Tommy. sorry to hear of your problems.
quick question but it has to be asked. have you still got the cd in the drive as this will cause it to black screen.

No. I removed the driver CD before I tried restarting it the first time. I then reinserted after that time. That's when it came back up but still ended up doing nothing.

Since then, whether the driver disc is in or out, lights and black screen. Every time.

think you are going to have to contact your suppliers technical support.

    just try these options first.
turn off and unplug.then remove battery and press power button for a few seconds to totally discharge. plug in and try again.
have you got sli. if not try Fn & F7 display toggle. just in case youve accidently turned it to external monitor.

    these are only guesses.
what spec have you got. might be worth posting it in your signature so others have more info for other advise.

Thanks for the tips. I had removed the battery but not held down the power button so I'll give that a try next.

I have the two 5870s Crossfire. Would Fn+F7 still work? If not, which button combination toggles the monitor?

looking at the user manual it says dont use that combination if you have sli loaded.
at work now but ill try and find the link for the user manual.

you can find the user manuals link in this members sig at bottom of all his posts http://forum.notebookreview.com/member.php?u=86450

    Thanks for the help.

I'll pull out the user manual that came with and nab the service manual to see if I can do anything. I contacted Sager and they told me to send it in so barring I pull off something cool in the next couple of hours, it'll be on its way to them on Monday.
