I've recently read about that new, colorful 12" laptop from Sager, the NP7250.

It meets what I'm currently looking for in a laptop: Small size, relatively lightweight, and a good build quality (which I've heard Sager is known for).

The trouble is, I can't find any real information on this aside from the specs given from the Sager website.

Has anybody had experiences with this laptop, or know of any reviews for it?

Any help or advice on my possible purchase of a Sager would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello! I just got my NP7250, and so far it's awesome. I'm going to start doing some benchmark tests on it now, and will have a review submitted soon!

Please keep us updated! There is little to no user input on this machine. I am looking for a new notebook (12") and would consider this if it gets good reviews.

    How is the battery?
    4-cells seems small...

I just bought this laptop for my mom, here is a review of it after using it for a couple days. Note that I'm not an expert on notebooks, but these are just my opinions and experiences with the laptop.

    Specs:
    1.86GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor 440
    1GB (1 SODIMM) DDR2/667 Memory
40GB Ultra SATA/150 Hard Drive at 5,400 RPM
Built in wifi, CDRW/DVDR drive, standard
    Windows XP (installed by myself)

    Under $700 shipped from PowerNotebooks.com

    Initial Impressions:
This laptop has a GREAT size and weight compared to the price. The case is well built, but the keyboard is a bit flimsy and flexes as you type. This really doesn't effect usability, but the sound and looks of it is not great. Other than that, the case feels rock solid, and it feels good to open and close the laptop.

The 12.1" screen is very clear and the glossy finish is pretty good. All parts of it are crisp and I haven't found any dead or stuck pixels. One gripe is that the only resolutions you can select are 800x600, 1024x1086, or 1280x800, which is kind of odd. My mom needs bifocals nowadays, and at 1280x800, the words can be a bit small. But setting it at 1024x1086 is just bad on a widescreen monitor, I wish there was a widescreen resolution smaller than 1280x800.

    Performance:
I got my mom a really bare minimum system, featuring a Pentium M 440 1.86mhz (I actually ordered the 430 but it came with a 440), 1GB Ram (which is partly shared with the onboard video card), and 40gb HDD. After using the computer with these specs for a while, I could tell it's more than enough for what my mom does with the laptop. Startup is quick (also thanks to a fresh WinXP installation), but opening programs really isn't troublesome for this computer. I didn't get a chance to try out multimedia programs like Photoshop on this computer, but my guess is that it will run it perfectly fine.

I did benchmark this computer using 3DMark03 (for those wondering about the onboard capabilities). It came out with a 3DMark03 score of 455...so don't try playing any 3D intensive games on it ;). I also did some Sandra benchmarks, but unfortunately, I didn't write them down...

While running these benchmarks and generally just running the computer, the left side of it got a little warm...I think the cooling design isn't very optimal on this laptop as there are no vents on the bottom. If there was, I think it would be much much cooler than it runs. It's not terribly hot, but it may make your left hand sweat ;)

So to sum things up and to add a few more things...

    Pro:
-Great size and weight compared to price
    -Great screen
    -Case is solid
    -Great performance for price
    -Small AC adapter
    -Comes well equipped standard

    Cons:
    -Flimsy keyboard
-Left side of laptop gets hot
    -Speakers aren't good

Feel free to give me any questions about the laptop I haven't covered! I'll answer it as best as I can. Thanks for reading :)

nice read, thanks a lot for the review!

Just a few questions about the laptop:
    - what's the average battery life on a single charge? I'm assuming this is the 4-cell battery, right.

    - About the keyboard, do you think the "flimsy" quality of it would be enough to pose a problem to someone using this notebook to occasionally type notes and assignments?

And one more thing, do you know exactly what type of RAM it is? I'm looking at some possible aftermarket RAM upgrades and would like to see type it has.

There's a online tester here if you're not sure: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx

    Thanks.

Great review! Could you post some pictures of the laptop?
It uses DDR2-667, you can see that when you configure the laptop. It also says it in the specifications.

sorry guys, i wrote the review after I got back to my university, and I'm not able to access my mom's laptop at the moment :( So I can't give you specific info...

But, the battery is a 4-cell battery and from what I remember, the battery life wasn't TOO great, but that might be because the screen was on the brighter side. But the battery life wasn't TERRIBLE either. This is a terrible review..lol

And also the memory, I did open up the cpu/memory bay to look at the ram, but I didn't take note on what it said. It was a rather smallish memory for 4 chips on it...if that helps at all. According to the PowerNotebooks website, they say it's a DDR2 ram running at 667.

You can't really tell it's flimsy while u're typing. It's really an annoyance once you look at the keyboard while you type. You can just see it flex and it isn't quiet due to that. I really think this would be an easy fix for the manufacturer, or even yourself if you took the time to add rubber supports underneath the keyboard or something.

But I believe you can write an essay or anything on it no problem. I chatted a lot with it while I was using the laptop. Didn't give me too much problems! I actually thought this keyboard was on the easier side to use. I didn't have too many typos while using it.

Any updates on this unit? I have seen it rebranded for around $800 wo/ an OS. I am most interested in the battery life.
