Idk what's going on, I installed my new 2X4GB sticks of ram in the slots left open under the bay cover. turned off the computer when I did, made sure it was in right, and restarted, but it doesn't seem to be working. The screen just stays black, and I can hear the CPU fan running. Idk what its trying to do. did I not install them right? Does anyone else have experience with this?

EDIT: sry that's the gpu fan thats spinning constantly.

how many slots are? 4? What RAM you put (all info)? What RAM was? Is old RAM still there? Please give full information if you want help so other people would not spend time for asking.
Looks like incompatibility with old RAM if it is still inside. Or it doesn't fit to laptop. Or bad RAM. Or...

Well I bought the G.Skill *GB (2X4GB) DDR3 1333 1.5V sticks from Newegg. I figured it would work since this laptop is supposed to support 1333. Idk what brand of RAM is under the keyboard but its supposed to be DDR3 1333 too. And the np8130 comes with 4 dimms that support 204 pin, and thats the kind I bought.

I experienced the same problem. I know others bought this RAM and it worked for them. Maybe try turning it on again with the ram and attempting to do it again.

I havn't tried again because I am undergoing some other stuff

Another RAM may be not compatible to that you bought (density, double/single sided etc). Use CPU-z to see what RAM is installed. the same to stelio. Perhaps you both have the same RAM sticks when other people stelio mentioned have another one.
I suggest you send GSkill back and buy Kingston HYPER X 4x4Gb or 4x2Gb because your laptop should support 1600 Mhz RAM. 4GB you have better sell

It's strange. So I tried out all the different configurations and the only time the computer started was when I had the 1 ram in the lowest slot. However it didn't show up in the bios. So I'm going to go into windows and see if it shows up. Maybe I just got a bad batch. March 2011 here, if anyone ins interested.

Okay let's see loaded up HWMonitor & CPUID, and that 4GB that's in there right now is not showing up, also what is supposed to be the DRAM Freqquncy for the RAM currently installed? Because is showing up as 665.3Mhz on CPUID, and I thought it was supposed to be 1333Mhz, or am I mistaken?

Well idk what to do. I started it up and it worked fine without the ram installed. Maybe I should just RMA the whole set back. Just curious about others experiences. I amy not be the most tech savvy person, but I figured even I could upgrade ram, so what's the verdict. am I doing something wrong or is the ram just not working.

665 is a half of 1333. It will work on 1333 with 2 modules installed together.
I already told what would I do.

Well yes. I know what you would do, but I'm trying to see if other people with the same computer got it to work. I know Stelio said he had the same problem. I'm also wondering why it says 665Mhz, when I'm sure I ordered 1333Mhz, however it may just be stepping, like the processors do, I'm not sure. this is why I need more information before I talk to someone. Lastly I'd rather not have to remove the keyboard to get to that RAM if I don't have to. I just want to have 16GB's work the way it's supposed to. I honestly don't care about 1600Mhz, I just want to know why the RAM I bought isn't working so I can figure out if I'm going to return to Newegg, RMA the unit, contact Sager/XoticPC, or try something else.

OK. Then sorry for bothering. I quite did not understand you because you wanted to know why it was working on 665 DRAM frequency while I told that it is OK to work on that frequency because 1333 means working in dual channel (DDR = Dual (or Double) data rate) so no matter it shows twice lower speed you should have 2 sticks to work in dual channel. I unsubscribe. Good Luck

Dual channel huh? Okay that explains it. So that's 2 so far with this problem, but I was reading a thread a while back, Epsilon was able to install what looks like the exact same RAM into his 8150, so I'd like to see if there was anyone who successfully upgraded their laptop.

I'm Using the Kingston 1600Mhz Ram. Its not supported for the 8130. At least thats what tech support told me. The ram under the keyboard is a Samsung brand.

i believe it only supports 2 sticks of 1600mhz ram. if you do more it downclocks to 1333mhz?

and there's a certain type of 1600mhz ram you have to get. it's posted up somewhere which type, sorry that i dont remember

when i tried to install my additional 4x2 gigs of ram i immidiately got a bsod upon booting win7.
i openned my computer and reseated the ram. booted again and still bsod.
i openned my computer again and what i thought was a firm ram connection was not. i removed both sticks and reattached them. never had problems since.

Best advice ever! So I tried it a third time too, and now all 16 gigs work. You just have to make sure the pins are down far enough so theyre almost completly not visible, and that theres no gap between the little notch.

The guidlines said not to wiggle them, and not to use force, but I did both and got it in the right way, and now they work fine. whew!

glad it worked out for you.
having more than 8gb of ram is a joy!
