Hi everyone, I'm looking to be purchasing the Sager NP8155 pretty soon. But before I do, I'd just like some advice on how installation of Windows 10 will be.

Usually, there is a pre-installed windows on the laptops that I have purchased, however as a student, I have a free windows pro 10 key, and I will be saving alot of money simply installing it myself.

My question is, besides using the Windows installation media tool for USB, is there anything in the BIOS that I will have to change? I've read alot about UEFI and such, and I'm still not sure exactly what it means :p

Additionally, I've been reading some forums/posts about creating the file from the Windows 10 tool. And I would like to know, what are the advantages of creating an ISO file, and then using RUFUS to make it a bootable USB over simply just using the USB flash drive options?

Sidenote, if anyone has this laptop and can share their experiences with it, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all for your help! :D

    Hi @Adobo9.

You'll want to have UEFI enabled for Windows 10. There's not much available to tinker with in the BIOS (unless you're purchasing from a PREMA partner that installs the PREMA BIOS), so no stress there. Just remember that if you have MSHYBRID enabled, you'll need to install the Intel HD Graphics driver after the chipset driver, but before the NVidia graphics driver; if using "DISCRETE" mode, then only the NVidia driver is necessary.

I don't think there are any. If anything, it's more work for the same end.

Just a note the Prema mod has never been on N series Clevos. P series and some W series only.

    Right-o. The NP8155 is a P series system, isn't it (P650HP3)?

Ah right, whoops I read NP8588. Been in too many N850 threads recently lol.

Yeah the P650RX series still doesn't have the Prema bios yet, so hopefully it'll be soon and HX will come with it or right after.

I got an email from Prema asking if I wanted to beta test the BIOS. This was a week ago, and I've received no response since confirming my system specs, but I have to believe now it will be sooner rather than later.

Hi Thank you very much for the reply! Sounds straight forward enough, it will have the simple BIOS so should be no problems there!

As for MSHYBRID, is that a BIOS option? Also, what does MSHYBRID and Discrete do respectively? Are these options I should tinker with for better performance and the like?

And is order of installation of chipset > intel graphics > Nvidia that important? If so, I am glad I asked on here first!

    Thanks.

MSHybrid enables both the integrated (Intel) and discrete (NVIDIA) GPUs. You would use this mode for maximum battery life (though don't expect anything revolutionary).

Discrete enables only the NVIDIA GPU and allows for G-Sync to work properly on the built-in display.

What @saturnotaku said: MSHYBRID enables the graphics switching (Optimus), meaning the Intel HD Graphics will take precedent in basic tasks and consume less energy. The NVidia graphics are engaged on an as needed basis. With "DISCRETE" mode, the Intel HD Graphics are disabled and the NVidia graphics are always running.

Yep! The Intel Graphics are only necessary, though, if you're in "MSHYBRID" mode. Installing out of that order can cause minor issues.

I've personally found installing the chipset driver to be unnecessary. The ones provided out of the box from Windows 10 are perfectly functional.
