    Background Information:

Warning: THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR WINDOWS 8/10

Please excuse oversized images, I can't figure out how to make them smaller. :(

I personally own a Nvidia GTX 675m and was in a bad spot. Whenever I look for driver updates it tells me I have latest driver installed, but I know that this is not true, I can find more updated drivers available on nvidia’s site for my specific graphics card. Thankfully I have found a solution and have created a step-by-step guide you can follow here.

Recently I have found another large problem (the one this post/guide is about) with installing my drivers. I now have Windows 10 Technical Preview and I can't seem to install my drivers at all. Even the modded installer created by following the steps in the link above didn't seem to work. I contacted Nvidia support and they have reported being unable to recognize my video card as a bug. Though they stated there was nothing more I could do. No matter what I tried the computer kept installing the Windows Basic Display Adapter Driver.

When trying to install drivers with my modded inf's I was able to get the result below. Note: I had to right click and uninstall the microsoft driver shown above to get the result below. Otherwise, trying to update my driver would result in "you already have the most up to date driver..." IF I was trying to go that route. My nvidia installer would simply fail and not explain why.

So we could see that the computer could recognize my graphics card, but still wasn't installing the drivers like it was supposed to.

Luckily, I did find a solution! In the picture above I googled the text and found the solution. Unsigned drivers! Yay!

You will need to have followed the steps in the link above so that you have the modded INF files for your current driver installer. This was still needed before I started this process.

So I present those of you experiencing the same (or similar) problem a step by step solution.

    Step-by-Step Solution:

    1) Click start, then click the power symbol. While holding down [shift], click the restart option. This will bring up the advanced boot menu.

    2) Click Troubleshoot.

    3) Click Advanced Options.

    4) Click Startup Settings.

    5) Click Restart.

    6) Press [7] or [F7]. Windows will not boot up without Driver Signature Enforcement.

    7) Run your modded driver installer. Note that while you are installing the driver, a popup like the one below may pop up. Simply click Install this driver software anyway.

If no error has occurred, you should be in the clear! :)

I imagine not a lot of people would have gone to this extent for a technical preview OS. Kudos to you for going against the grain!

You probably already know this but those instructions will work great for any unsigned driver. Thanks for the thoroughness of your post.
