Is there a difference between getting bluetooth inside a laptop, say the 2090, or getting bluetooth through a usb adapter.
I ask this because i have a bluetooth 2.0 USB adaptor for my desktop, and i dont want to spend 45$ for a integrated bluetooth for the laptop.

i don't think theres a difference, other than the fact that the integrated bluetooth will be inside the laptop whereas the USB bluetooth will take up a USB slot and stick out. I'm guessing it's just a convenience factor.

I work in the cellular industry, I test devices for major manufacturer on a daily basis. 99% of the products I test involve in-depth Bluetooth core testing.
I purchased the M570u with the integrated Bluetooth module. I have a few USB dongles as well.
As long as both modules are v2.0, they will operate the same (Profile wise, HFP, A2DP, BPP etc. etc.). The only difference i've seen between internal and external is range. The USB dongles (Depending on the their Class) seem to have better range.
Class 1 100m
Class 2 10m
Class 3 1m
Most Bluetooth v2.0 devices are class 1.

From my experience there IS some difference between internal and USB BT devices...I have experienced problems having USB bluetooth and USB mouse working at the same time....mouse gets choppy and doesn't work OK.
Just FYI- -
That's due to chipset/software incompatibilities. Broadcomm and CSR chipsets are known to have those types of issues with each other. Also, try to stay away from the Windows XP Bluetooth stack if possible...
My Clevo M570u was shipped with a CSR 2.0 module and the Bluesoleil software. I've used an A2DP as well as a HFP headset while paired to a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I never had an issue. -
If you use Logitech BT peripherals, you are going to be stuck with the external dongle, as SetPoint refuses to recognize anything other than Logitech's own Bluetooth adapter.
This means, for instance, that although you will be able to use a Logitech BT mouse with the internal adapter, you will NOT be able to remap buttons or use more than the standard three mouse buttons.
This led me to build an adapter that allows me use a Logitech Bluetooth dongle internally, in place of the OEM internal adapter. The adapter is simply a boost converter and level-shifter that allows the 5v external part to interface with the 3v internal USB header. -
Hudah... Good to know tahnks

Good point Xevious, just FYI, there should be a fix for that soon! Once the DiNovo hit mainstream, Logitech started to rethink their ways. Let's just hope they follow through!
