For anyone out there that owns the m860tu and got the 5300 wifi or simply owns the 5300 wifi and are experiencing problem with it such as disconnects.
I got this laptop and was randomly and quite often experiencing disconnects/signal lost and regained. I did some troubleshooting and tried various wifi setting and none helped. I then upgraded to the newest driver and proset software. I feel that the connection problems got much worse with this update. I then uninstalled the intel proset software and the wifi card/drivers. I then reinstalled the intel drivers for just the card and am using it with the windows wireless manger. I am no longer experiencing any disconnects/signal loss problems.
as a note, i am using windows XP and i did try switching over the wireless control to windows wireless manager, while leaving the intel proset software installed, the problems were still there. I needed to uninstall it all to make this wifi card work properly.
Hope this can help anyone experiencing similar/same problems.
cheers!

I have updated to the latest drivers on Intel's website and I no longer have problems with my wireless card. I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit. Before upgrading the drivers, I did have some loss in connection as well as slow connectivity.

Latest version is something like 12.1.014. Im having less problems, never really had a full disconnect issue but had a bad time connecting to my retarded WPA2-Enterprise-EAP-MSCHAPv2 authentification at school.
