Just when you thought it was "safe" to finally buy a notebook this summer when the 570RU comes out, Intel goes and releases this puppy upon us.

I don't know how to link just yet, but the release is over at engadget and laptoping.

I know there will ALWAYS be a new technology around the corner but man...a few months in between would be nice :). Now - could the RU possibly be upgradeable to this new cpu? The difference probably wouldn't be that significant when looking at the added price though.

Now when is that RU coming out? Summer can't come fast enough.

I wouldn't buy, regardless of how much faster is it than the normal branding. The extreme CPUs main feature is the unlocked multiplier, which is not too useful for laptops as overclocking is not a staple of mobile life.

The Extreme is probably going to be over twice the price of whatever's next in line, but only a little faster. Don't wait for that. All I'm waiting for it 8800M/8700M, then it should be safe. If you wait for anything beyond that, you'll wait forever. It'll be like chasing a rainbow.

Agreed. RU with 8800 is a nice combination coming up. Probably late summer though but still I think worth the wait.

Yeah, I would wait for the top end DX10 line to roll out as well.
