my first DV6 had this issue. no resolution. sent it back and got another dv6 which had My wifi working fine.

the Sager 8130 I have errors out when I click "share my internet" in the Intel My Wifi program. No one I've talked to including Sager has a clue what to do (just like with HP support). I've googled and googled til my fingers bled, and there doesn't seem to be any known solution. the program creates a hotspot just fine, but that hotspot doesn't connect to the internet. The error message is "An Error Ocurred while attempting to turn on Share My Internet". anyone else try this feature and does it work or not?

PROBLEM SOLVED! (by me...too complicated to explain and I doubt anyone cares)

Let me ask you this, are you sharing another connection / wired connection through your wireless? or is the wireless card connecting to another AND broadcasting another wireless network? I ask because there is manual ways to achieve some of the cases that wouldn't rely on intel's software so they may just work.

You could set up Windows internet connection sharing from your internet connection to the wifi card if you're indeed sharing from another connection though this would be an ad-hoc wireless network unless you were connected to a bridge or router.

I've actually used connectify in the past. I'll take a look at it. For the life of me I can't figure out why neither I, two tech support organizations, or the internet, have failed to resolve issues with this error. Out of 3 laptops, 2 have had the problem, so does it logically follow that why there's little talk about this is that hardly anyone uses the feature?

what I need is for something to work (like My wifi SHOULD work) by hooking up laptop to ethernet. then share the internet via wifi. I've done it on an HP DV6. worked great. same utility. win 7 64 bit. brand new. crazy that 2 out of three laptops can't get that feature to work. spent many hours with support and by myself, trying every crazy thing we could think of.

I finally fixed it. what a convoluted bunch of stuff to do to make it work and I'm not going to type out the fix, which is lengthy... been having trouble with this feature since May when I had a DV6 that also wouldn't share. Now I can check off another problem with the Sager as "fixed".

Would you mind posting here what you had to do to sort it out? At the very least, it can serve as a reference for anyone else that has that issue since it sounds like there weren't any other sources out there for it.

Dave - can you PLEASE post the solution - many of us are having the exact same problem and I would certainly appreciate learning how to correct it.

    Thanks

that post was from the 6th august 2011 so dont expect a reply.
its a shame that people want advice but when they get a fix or sort it themselves they dont share.

i would make a new post for your issue as it would most prob get more replys.

oh, gee guys, I can't remember how I fixed it. ONE thing I do remember doing (I'm pretty fuzzy on all this by now, as it was a long time ago) was enabling EVERYTHING in services.msc. But there was a lot more to it than that, and I can't even begin to recall all the details which is why I never wrote them done here. I didn't record the sequence of events for my own purpose either, so if I ever restore windows, I'll likely have to start all over again myself. I don't think Sager ever found the solution either. The bottom line is that the Intel feature, while handy, isn't documented correctly or we'd all have been able to enable it in a jiffy. Good luck guys, and if I ever recall the specifics of the solution, i will GLADLY relate them to you here, now that I know some folks are having the same issues that I had. I wish I could be of more help!!

excuse me, but I can't even remember how to fix it myself and at the time that I did fix it, it was so convoluted I wouldn't have been able to explain it to anyone at the time!
