From what i heard, intel turbo helps shorten time of the hdd because it keeps the info in its cache. If someone got a 5400rpm HDD and turbo memory, is that performance just as good as somone who gets a 7200rpm HDD alone?

Also, does anyone know if powernotebooks have turbo memory in stock?

No, the performance won't be as good. It might help. Anandtech indicates that the main benefits are with battery life, as the HDD is able to spin down, but performance benefits are miniscule.

I got the 7200rpm and the turbo, but if it's between 7200rpm and 5400rpm+turbo, go with 7200rpm.

A faster hard drive is a time tested and proven way of increasing performance, not just with loading times as many would have you believe, but will help with any program that loads resources on the fly, or uses more than the amount of memory you've selected (due to the inevitable paging to the hard drive, something the turbo memory is supposed to help in theory). Everyone thought 512MB of RAM was perfect until the Planetside open beta. :p

However, installing the turbo memory later might be a little bit of a hassle, so if you can afford the extra 40 bucks and have faith in Microsoft/Intel for driver improvements/service pack fix, go for it, but my suggestion is only after going for the faster hard drive.
