    See topic.

I'm curious if there's any info on the P270WM, or if resellers can comment/share any information since Intel's NDA has been lifted. There's nothing on clevo.com.tw.

The Intel NDA being lifted for this chipset does not mean it is lifted for a new Clevo model with this chipset. Maybe soon... :)

    what similarity between X7200/p270wm chasis(appearance/shape)? 90%? 95%?
does it support xeon e5-2687w which tdp=150w?
power supply? 400w+? or the same 300w with dual connector?
    is there really a 120hz 3d version of p270wm?
    does it support gtx480m?
    :p

I, too, would like to know the answers to DXG and Red Line's questions. There has been little to no info on the P270WM since CompuTex. Such a shame. :(

P270WM release date in AUSTRALIA is January 14th approximately. It should be here before Chinese New Year. Don't know the release dates in other countries.

what similarity between X7200/p270wm chasis(appearance/shape)? 90%? 95%? Looks exactly the same as X7200 chassis. Screen is up to your provider, sure it can take 90% Gamut display.
does it support xeon e5-2687w which tdp=150w? Checking.
power supply? 400w+? or the same 300w with dual connector? Power supply still listed as 300w
is there really a 120hz 3d version of p270wm? Yep P270WM3 will be released around the same time
does it support gtx480m? Sure, but why, use GTX580M!

    Other facts:

    Illuminated Keyboard, CHECK.
Fingerprint Reader, OPTIONAL (check with your distributor).
    Yes 4 Channel DDR3 with support up to 16GB 1600mhz or 32GB 1333Mhz

There is a delicate balance regarding what info you "should" release as a builder. In fact, Clevo does not have any NDA in terms of... well almost anything. There is however an agreement that all information shall be put to use in a way so that it benefits the whole not an indivual player even though there are no detailed guidelines here.

As the world's largest builder of Clevos Sager has set the standard of those policies in North America and indirectly this forum. All who are buying from them are thus bound by their NDA.

This is the reason why the situation is so delicate and some builders such as us aint bound by any NDAs at all. However, due to our approach in this forum, mutual trust and cooperation with our American counterparts, we have chosen to abide to any NDA policies Sager have set up. Only in the cases that American resellers want to answer but are unable to do so due to Sager lagging behind (not very often) we supply info regarding new models. An example would be the memory bus on the GT 555M when W150HRM was launched some months back.

As for the P270WM(/3) I think the million dollar question is, which gpus will be available?.... :)

GTX560m/GTX580m of course, AMD gpu is not compatible and next range of nVidia is not until March/April.

As for what you are saying, I can see your respect for Sager, but the fact of the matter is, there are a large number of reps on here that are not Sager resellers. We are not bound by their NDA, and I asked Clevo prior to posting this and their reponse was and I quote 'you can mention anything now that the Intel NDA has passed as of yesterday'.

Edit: When I say not compatible, I am referring to the P270WM3 model, not P270WM.

Indeed, I fully understand your point and was not trying to implicate anything. It would be natural for Sager to lift their NDA as well.

If this is true, riddle me these questions three:

    1. Is there HDMI-Input?
    2. Are all three 2.5" SATA HDD connectors running at SATA3 6Gbp/s? Better yet, is the optical drive bay wired for SATA3 (some people put HDD there instead of ODD)?
    3. Is there a way to disable/enable the backlight of the keyboard at any time (like hitting a FN key combo)?

If its the same chasis as the X7200, will we be able to upgrade an X7200 keyboard with a new backlit one?

I'm going to order an X7200 from malibal, but I can't wait until the p270WM comes out to get the latest/greatest. The backlit keyboard would be awesome to add later though.

    This from Sager....

It is currently in PVT stage, (Production Verification Testing) it is scheduled to MP in mid of December if everything passes PVT according to plan.

If without any delay or specification change from the result of the PVT Stage Sager expect to have the unit by end of December to early January.

Alright, cool. Or uncool, if you didn't like the whole 2x PSU thing.

Will there be HDMI-In? Also, is the backlit keyboard interchangeable with the X7200 like others have asked?

Backlit keyboard is NOT interchangeable. Many have asked this about other models as well, it cannot be done, the heights are different on the keyboard. They have sunken the keyboard in on the new one to accomodate. There is also no power plug for the keyboard on the X7200.

HDMI input is not listed in the specificaions so one would assume not which is unfortunate.

No HDMI-In is indeed disappointing, but oh well... At least we got a backlit keyboard! It only took like what, 5 years? So only another 5 years before we get HDMI-In... I'm only joking, of course.

How many USB ports will the P270WM have, and on which side of the machine? How many of said ports will be USB 3.0?

Thanks for all the info. Finally some light on this monster.

If you want it, I've seen special order/requests for the x7200 w/ HDMI-input. So, since they did it with the x7200, I wonder why not do this with the P270WM. Or perhaps that was a reseller add-on?

In regards to a backlit keyboard for the x7200, while I'd like one too, I just don't see this happening as the x7200 does not have the power cable for the kb LED.

That is correct, the X7200 has HDMI-Input option, but on the spec sheet of P270WM there is no option listed.

I was only kidding around, hehe.

Anyway! So if the chassis of the P270WM largely resembles the X7200, then will its port layout remain identical (or almost identical)?

This is hard to tell, sorry.

The MXM format will be the same, so you can use the new heatsink with your old card in the same fashion. I can't see it being an issue at all.

It is just like P180HM has new heatsink, but it still takes older cards. Same thing.

i beleive that only eurocom includes xeon CPU's for their NP7280 line, i doubt that other Sager resellers add this option in future. It should be compatible for sure. All in all, x7200 successor is going to become a true mobile server when it's available)

not too much gains for most users in sandy bridge-e platform, but those K-series unlocked CPU's could be fun to play with :)

the sandy bridge-e is a trimmed down version of sandy bridge-ep(native 8 core 20mb cache)

can you name a few resellers, please, couldn't find them

if i decide to go with sandy bridge-e laptop i'd choose i7-3820 at first and in a year go with next revision of the cheapest k-series CPU (600$) and OC it! by the end of 2012 Intel may reveal 8-core SB-E CPU's! Yeah, you're right, the lack of 2 cores made me sad too... on the other side 8-cores requires 150W, hope the new x7200 cooling could handle that much of heat)

terransforce/ranotebook/origin/ava(d900f)/schenker/next........umm maybe "a lot" i said is quite exaggerated
not all, 8 core 2.7g=130w 2.9g=135w, and with turboboost2.0 all core full load still +0.3g boost
sure p270wm can handle just 15% more tdp

Also, don't forget there were end-users who purchased the x7200 barebones (sans CPU) and then put in a Xeon like lawtq. If the mobo / chipset supports it, I can't believe this won't be tried with the p270WM.

It'll be a lot easier to justify a notebook late 2012/early 2013 by waiting for the Ivy Bridge chips "E" chips being my x7200 is just one year old.

    Nope, still same layout.

They don't seem to understand why we don't like the keyboard layout. To them nothing is wrong with the DEL key and Alternative DEL key being one on top of the other.

They keyboard is actually made by Chicony, who is Clevo's sister company.
