So i restarted my computer and upon restart windows said i need to install the driver for a new hardware, Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815. Well i installed my intel chipset drivers twice with no luck. Anyone have this driver or know how to fix this?

heres a screenshot of the problem:

You will need to install it using the "Have disk" method.

First you will need to extract the drivers from the installer package. To do that just grab the installer .exe and rename it to example infinst.exe. Then copy it to C:\.

Click Start -> write "Run" -> Enter. Write "C:\infinst.exe" -a -a -p<>, where in the <> you should write the target extract directory.

Finally, open the Device Manager, right click over that device, properties, click "Update Driver". Browse to the folder where you have extracted the installer(check the subfolder verification). It should find the intel's .infs for that device.

    ;)

thanks for your help Audigy, but when i type that into run, it says files have been extracted to the folder, but yet when i check the folder they were supposed to extract to, their is nothing in the folder. I have "show hidden files and folders" in the folder options as well.

Is their a specific folder location i should use? Will 7-zip or any archiver not extract the setup.exe?

Once again thanks for the help.

    7-Zip will extract it.

Wait a sec. Why would you want to extract setup.exe ? There is nothing to extract in it.

The INFs should be stored in separate folders, like "ALL" for all OSs, "Vista" for vista 32, etc. Just get Device Manager to search in those folders. Though you can choose the inf yourself, i.e. ICH8core.inf....

I'm pretty sure the LPC controller is installed when you install the chipset utility. So try reinstalling it.
If your HDD is in AHCI mode, install the matrix storage manager as well.

I just had a look at an old version of the chipset utility, and in ICH8core.inf, I found the LPC controller driver for your notebook's southbridge. Try manually installing it.

I've tried re-installing several times, through setup.exe and strait from the autorun off the disc, with no success.

Did you try installing using the Have-Disk method to install the driver from the INF (mentioned above).

The chipset software instalation utility .exe contains all the .infs for the northbridge and southbridge integrated devices.

Weird, the ICH8M LPC Interface doesn´t have nothing to do with the ITE infrared chip, it´s just an interface multiplexer for older ISA devices.

    BTW, here is mine:

It might be a low-bandwidth device, or the OP probably installed the driver for Intel TPM. :p

Weird, on extracting infinst_autol.zip, I had all the infs available in the Vista and All folders.... ;)

    Hi Guys, :)
I have got a Studio 1535 and I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit RTM and run Windows Update.
I have got the same problem I had with the RC.
The Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller is properly installed but the ITE IT8512 CIR Receiver isn't recognised.

I have installed the latest Vista driver (5.0.4.6) available in Dell's Driver Download page for the device ...but this is the result:

How can I fix the issue?
    Thanks
