So my work and life have changed significantly from when I first bought this Sager NP9170 and I now realize as much as I love it, I really need a laptop that is more travel friendly. I bought this laptop 3 months ago from xoticpc, it's in perfect condition and I've had no issues with it (not counting the fingerprint scanner issue mentioned in another thread which I'm sure is software not hardware).

I am in Miami, Florida but also travel to Washington, DC every other weekend. I'm pretty certain it would probably only work if we exchanged them in person unless you'd trust me to send the NP9150 to me before I send the NP9170 to you (I can provide public references to who I am and my position which may be enough for you to be comfortable with that). Or maybe we can work out something where you buy the NP9170 from me through paypal or something and then I refund the money when I get the NP9150 or something that protects us with PayPal guarantees.

I might also be willing to include a 190GB intel SSD I'm using for the OS drive now.

If you have any interest in a trade like that please let me know and we can discuss logistics involved.

Hey, looking at this size easy that a member had made, I don't think the difference matter to you.. (link: Sized Up: sager np8170 vs NP8150 / P150HM vs dell 1420)

You only save like an inch on the length.. Other corners are not that big of a deal

Otherwise, are you looking to trade for a np9150 with the exact same spec in terms of CPU, GPU, etc..? Also would a Clevo branded one matter?

To be honest size isn't necessarily the biggest factor. Weight and stupidly enough weight of the godawful power brick are of more concern. The power brick of the 9170 is like a freaking gold brick but thicker.

Yes ideally I'd like to trade for same specs. I'd consider possibly paying something for a 680m. I was kind of hoping that someone about to buy a 9170 would find it a good deal to get the 9170 for the price of the 9150 but doing a quick calculation on the xoticpc site I realize now the difference in price between the two is substantially less than I had thought it would be.

EDIT: I'll be honest I'd love it if there was an option that was closer to an ultra book in size that still had a good enough video option to power an external monitor with legit gaming performance.

Is the power brick of NP9170 also rated at 180w? If so then I think it's the same as NP9150.. If you want a smaller power brick, it'd be the NP9130 that you are looking for.

I believe the NP9170 is 220w and substantially bigger than the 180.

I just travelled through China for 3 weeks with my 9130, and all I can say is damn I wish I had a Macbook or something much lighter, hell even my old Dell. While the power brick is smaller is is still huge and I think the 9130 weighs in around 6 pounds. Sure it was nice to have the power when I needed it but it was cumbersome.

I think the 9170 power brick alone might be 6 pounds all on its own. Seriously I was blown away when I saw how absurd it is.

Actually a macbook air is exactly what prompted this. I bought a cheap last gen Macbook air from Microcenter when they were clearing them out to use as lightweight travel laptop and I found myself using it way more than I thought I would. I LOVE the form factor but I'm not a huge fan of OSX and it's not powerful enough for me to really use it as my main laptop in general; I thought about getting a high end macbook pro and just selling the sager but like I said I'm not the biggest fan of mac, don't want to leave PC and running parallels or bootcamp isn't good enough for any real gaming.

This idea sounds awesome (I am keeping my NP9150 though, haha). If you can't find some one to trade with, there are some super awesome netbooks and ultrabooks that I have seen around my classes that are just beautiful. Netbooks are so great for travel, and if you can get one with an i5, you are set dude. I think netbooks are CPU and RAM limited, while Ultrabooks are still small but can be equipped with i7 processors. I eventually want to get one to compliment my NP9150, but for now that want is at the bottom of my priority list.
