Just wondering if anyone else had run into this.
I fixed my gpu utilization problem with a small over clock to start with. What I noticed was that the card would actually go down the 300/150 when I put it to stock clocks and never wake up, however with even a 1 point over clock (851 1201) it would go to full power and full usage. I took this as a simple fix until new drivers came out and I went about my way.
Today I decided to do some benchmarking with the card overclocked higher and see what I could get. Something interesting happened.
I scored pretty well, at least, I think so: AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P170EM score: P6586 3DMarks
P6586 for those who do not want the link. However I noticed something. I was running the card at 950/1400 according to Afterburner. In GPU-z (which I downloaded after noticing this to check) it gives me the -1/-1 even with Kombuster in the background.
On The review of the bench it showed that I was at the clocks I used to get around the throttling of low power mode 860 and 1202. Did I score this high (If it is a high score) with the clocks that low, or is 3DMark reading something false?
I was just wondering if anyone else had run into this. Also, since I don't know standard 11 scores for the 7970m, this could be lower than expected and I would have no idea, does anyone have a base range so I can look into this? I would love to score over 7000 with this card.
Interesting Observation
