Hey everyone,
I'm from New Zealand and I'm trying to get a NP8662 shipped here from the states (planning to order from xoticpc). Has anyone tried this before and how much local tax were you charged when it arrived at your country?
Is there a way to avoid local tax?
Thanks guys.

Is it better toask Justin about that?

If you hae a friend going to the states they could bring it in for you, no charge.
I got mine shipped to india and payed around 17% import tax, make sure its stated on the customs form as a gift, that might lower the price a bit for you.
Great machine good luck with the purchase. -
In Europe, boxes markes as a gift are less likely to be opened, but you can never be sure about that...

Mate, I would check with NZ customs if I were you - especially if you have it shipped via mail like DHL, FedEx etc. They'll sting yer.
The cheapest way is to have someone here in the US buy it when they are here and then take it back as a personal PC. I never declare my PC but you can't bring back the box and all otherwise it's a tell tale sign that the laptop is new (you could always ship an empty box back if you're so inclined).
So that's about the goya on this. NZ customs or know a trustworthy friend.
Don't forget about the Exchange Rate, foreign comission etc. You sure you cannot find any Clevo reseller there in NZ, could be a little more but you won't have the hassle and you have local support if it goes bust on yer... -
Thanks everyone for the feedbacks
Haquocdung: Ive spoken to xoticpc , they said they are not willing to label it as a gift"
mtness: unfortunately i dun have many friends in the states....even worst they aren't planning to come to NZ lol
cafeine: yeah it'll suck if customs opened your xmas prezzie that your dad sent from overseas XD
Albsterama: I WISH there was ANY reseller of custom brands in this god forbidden country....but unfortunately no....well , we DO have alienware, but it sucks so much that they dun even import the new m17x and m15x.
Oh well i guess I'll just have to bite my thumb and face the expensive tax + shipping. -

What about OZ? Sure easier to ship it over across the Tasman than the Pacific..

I do not know much about them as I've not purchased from them but take a look at them and do your research there. -
Thanks Albsterama,
I'll see what kind of deals they have
