So yeah, obviously this on the verge of exploding...
it literally looks like every component is way too hot, except for the harddrive which is only a bit too hot

this was after playing Left 4 Dead for maybe 20-30 minutes, with a (albeit very cheap) thermal pad, and the back elevated. ambient room temperature is probably 70-75F. i havent cleaned out the dust in maybe a couple months, but there isnt hardly any dust where i live. i do have my videocard flash overclocked but that wouldn't cause the cpu and TZ0_ (what is that anyway?) to be so ridiculously hot would it? can someone link me to the instructions for flashing it back to the default clocks with usb stick, I learned how to flash the bios like a year ago now and dont remember how to do it. I'm no longer under warranty so i cant just send it back.
help!
specs are in the sig

There will always be dust! I suggest you open it and clean the fan and the vent!

It is a temp based off of the devices in the thermal zone as configured in the ACPI code.
It is a value used to start active cooling (fan) and passive cooling (throttling).
Anyway, try the undervolting guide.
Replace the therma pad/paste.
Copper mod?
Clean out dust.
check to see if the fan is working. -
I too, strongly believe that its the dust that's causing all this heat, provided this level of temperature did not exist when you first overclocked.
110C is very dangerous (even on the TZ) as I recall someone on this forums saying that the GPU can handle only 108C MAX. Although you might think it isn't the GPU temp, the ambient temperatures affect the component life too. -
i guess i could do the compressed air routine again, but it was doing this (although not this bad) even after the last time i sprayed it out.
so are you guys saying that the TZ0_ and the CPU temps arent related to the overclock? -
Well if your gpu gets hotter it will make the general casing hotter and heat the other components a little. Don't worry about the TZ. The cpu isn't that hot, but your gpu is definitely getting a little too hot. I would suggest lowering the overclock a little.
But of course clean the fans FIRST and check back the temps. Also, what are your idle temps?
If the cpu really bothers you, you can undervolt it (if you haven't already). -

80C on the CPU is uncomfortably warm.
Since Sager/Clevo/whateverRebrand has good CPU and GPU cooling, that looks pretty alarming.
Especially for half an hour of Left 4 Dead. How old is this machine? -
Clean out the dustbunnies PRONTO, i do mine every week, and with a P9700 and a GTX 260m, I idle at about 85F (29C) for the CPUs and about 38 to 40C (100 to 104F) for the GPU. Go to staples or microcenter, buy some compressed air, and blast away in short poots. Then, make sure your thermal pastes and pads are up to snuff, they may be beginning to deteriorate and need replacement. A tube of AS5 and a good thermal pad set should do.

After stressing on FurMark, my GPU reaches 77C around half an hour into the test. I wonder what would FurMark do to the OP's sager?
-
quick question before i clean the hell out of the inside. which way is the fan supposed to spin, i know it can be bad for it to make it spin the direction its not supposed to.

Avoid making the fan spin when you're cleaning. Hold down the rotor with your finger if you need to blow out the fan blades.
-
Believe me it is not
-
-
The fan is supposed to spin to blow the air INTO the component.
FxPower:
The idle GPU - 38C
Ambient temperature is 75F (23.9C) -
Idle 38 is really cool.....i want it too......
Is 110C (230 F) too hot for my M860TU?
