I bought a Clevo 900k from them a little under 2 years ago w/ an extended warranty. To make a long story short there are severe video and over heating issues now.
So I look up ISTNC which still has the same website but appears to be called Carolina Computing. I try calling first with no luck, I then email them with no response. Now 5 days later I finally get someone to answer my call and this dumb woman just answers hello. I ask if this is ISTNC and she says no, ok how about Carolina Computing and she says yes. She says she has never heard of ISTNC and I need to take up my warranty issue there. That's the condensed version but I'm a little ticked that it is looking like I'm stuck after shelling out the extra cash for the extended warranty to a once reputable company.
Anyone know what happened with these guys?

Strange, they are using the exact same website just a changed name.
Their reputation has been going down the gutter the past few months. Many people have been upset.
Here is their sites WHOIS info you could try:

Thanks for the reply. I tried calling a couple of more times with no answer period. My guess is they are going under. I would not been nearly as ticked off had the female that answered tried the I don't know who ISTNC is, you are going to have to take it up with them and email them.
After digging through a large search field it appears I'm not the only one these guys have screwed over. I'm just curious that with their once raving raving reviews what happened because evidentially they are garbage now.
I may have to eat my extended warranty cost but at least I can go about trying to fix the thing myself which is likely the gfx card overheating. -
I managed to scrounge the following facts/documents from the website of the NC Secretary of State (the office in charge of forming corporations, LLCs, and other entities in NC):
ISTNC Cert. Incorporation: http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Filings.aspx?PItemId=5692857#
CC&TS, LLC Art. Formation: http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Filings.aspx?PItemId=8577428#
Initial Director of ISTNC is registered agent for both ISTNC and CC&TS (but not for any other entities): http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Agent.aspx?AgentId=2929080
Mediawave financing statement filed 8/10/2006 covering inventory and proceeds: http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/ucc/FilingChain.aspx?FileNumber=20060078125B#
These documents reveal the following: (1) Richard T. Roberts, the initial director of ISTNC, is the registered agent for both ISTNC and CC&TS, (2) both entities have the same business address, and ISTNC is still listed on the Secretary of State's website as an active corporation in good standing.
Based on the foregoing, I can draw only two conclusions: (1) CC&TS is a separate business from ISTNC and the secretary you spoke to was just recently hired to work for CC&TS or is so unintelligent as to be the walking dead, or (2) there's a good chance that there's some sort of fraud going on, with the business being moved, lock, stock & barrel, to CC&TS from ISTNC in order to commit a fraud on creditors (maybe they can't keep up with the payments on their debt to Mediawave?).
See if you can get any higher up than the clue-less secretary. Maybe look up a phone number for Richard T. Roberts.?
Good luck. -
Thanks for the reply. I tried calling another 2x with no answer. I then tried the fax number which has been disconnected. My guess is there is a combination of the two going on but leaning towards fraud. If you are hiding from creditors at leasy change the url for god sakes. More than anything else I would like this thread or similiar threads to stay up so someone else doesn't place an order from these guys, especially since it was here that they recieved great reviews a couple of years ago.

I don't know, pick a cool name. Then email it to them.

Naah CC&TS is their siphon. Then they'll take all those funds and create a new start-up.

If you can't get in touch with them, you might still have some recourse with your warranty. If it was through Philips-Magnavox, for instance, you might be able to contact them directly with your serial number and still get support. If ISTNC was trying to handle their own warranty work, I guess you are out of luck if you can't reach them for help.
Is ISTNC still even around?
