I'd like to use Sager5760 on my lap.. but most people says I should always use it on hard surface... If I should not, why should I not use it on my lap? Thanks

well most notebooks even have a disclaimer on the packaging that usually says:

"The vents on the bottom of the notebook unit should NEVER by blocked or covered. Always use this notebook on a hard surface to ensure that there would be no overheating issues."

So if you do use it on your lap, I would recommend to use a notebook cooler/stand underneath the notebook to ensure that the airflow would not be blocked.

Ah thank you, I've looked into the notebook cooling fans. For performance of cooling, it seems like everyone says they are minimal. So of people who bought the cooling base, which is the most comfortable on your lap?

I did read all the reviews on cooling fans, but most are debating on "this thing lowered 1 degree on my CPU". I need something that is comfortable on my lap, easy to carry, and not so noisy.

    Thanks

A piece of 3/4 inch plywood, 12x12 inches square. Easy to store and carry, cheap, yet still effective for short term use. Paint it or clear coat, or cover it with some plastic so it doesn't scratch or catch on clothing.

You wouldn't want to use this beast for extended use or gaming on your lap anyway. It's generally too big and too hot.

I use a checkers board at my girlfriend's place that is a bit bigger than 12x12. Works great for short term use.
At home, for extended use and gaming, I got a Zalman cooler on my desk.

are there any coolers that work similar to the 3/4 inch plywood? That way i can use it on my lap and on desk. The Zalman cooler looks like it won't go on my lap comfortably. Thanks.

I actually use my Vantec LapCool4 on my lap sometimes... and remember that my notebook weighs about 13 pounds.

The LapCool4 is very portable, since it folds up... and very solid.

Here is a good review of the this notebook cooler (which was used with the Sager 5760):

Thank you, the LapCool4 is exactly what I was looking for. If I may add one more thing... It says it comes with a "free case" is this big/good enough to carry 5760, LapCool4, Small Wacom Tablet & Pen, and some DVDs? Thanks

the case should be able to hold all of that. It is a basic case to hold the notebook and a few accessories.

I had my case for while, until I decided to get a notebook backpack (the one that you saw in the link i just gave you), it helps my back. :)

The case is very basic, do yourself a favour and get a backpack as gophn suggensted. In the long term it will help your back :)

This is what I use and it fits the 5760 perfectly with pleanty of room for other stuff in the other compartments:
