The image my webcam displays is insanely dark on my Malibal P170HM.

I've had it for some time now, never really bothered with the cam before. The drivers all seem to be properly installed and up-to-date. Is it useless, is there a fix, or did I get a bad one.?

This is common with the web cams. The only way to get a better one would be an external. You didnt get a bad one, unless its really really bad which can only be know by seeing it or sending it in for service.

As mentioned, the only way to know for sure if you got a lemon is to have it inspected. :( You might be able to tweak the brightness/contrast settings via software configurations, but you're still subjected to the lens quality and ISO performance.
