I decided to buy a EVOC P870DM3 from HIDEvolution.
First let me say that the Donald helped me a ton on picking parts, he sat down for the better part of 2 hours telling me where I should splurge on strong parts and where I could get away with the cheaper ones.
Now, I will say I am going crazy, it's been 2 weeks since they ordered my Samsung SM961 two weeks ago, I guess in this time the Samsung 960 pro came out. They decided to upgrade me, which is awesome, however I am now stuck without a computer for another week at least while the part comes in.
Not making this post to rant, just jonesing to play all these new games coming out. Currently running a PC tha overheats playing WoW on the lowest settings(13 fps average), this laptop needs to hurry.

Why do you want the Pro instead of the 960 Evo? The Pro is like 50% more money for <10% more performance. The Evo is priced much more reasonably and still has easily the fastest speeds out of anything besides the 960 Pro. 3.5 vs 3.2 Gb/s is not very noticeable, but 330 vs 250 bucks is.
I'll also be interested to see if they finally make a difference for normal usage. Your most likely not going to get faster game load times. Something else is the bottleneck in that, a 950 Pro is no faster than an X400 in that regard. Boot times it's too soon to tell though. -
Originally it was the SM961 and IIRC the Evo wasn't an option at that time. The 960 was an "upgrade" from HIDevolution, since I think the 960 pro is the successor to the SM961.
-
Yeah, in your case that makes sense, getting an upgrade like that is pretty awesome.

960 Pro and 960 EVO are Retail / End user products where SM951 or SM961 are OEM version.

I preordered a 960 EVO direct from Samsung at the end of October. Shipping date was originally Mid-Nov but it looks like Mid-Dec now...

Yes shipping is being delayed by Samsung - current ETA is early Dec. But not 100% confirmed.

I have been having fun with my SM961 1TB for some time, it's a fast drive though I do wish I had another.
-
Don't tell me that! The guys on HIDevolution said it should come this week. Waiting 1 more month is going to make me stroke out.
-
I had a SM961 on my order with HIDEvolution but cancelled the drive and ordered it separately so I wouldn't have to wait for my P870DM3, using a 850 Pro in the meantime, and also because I wanted the 960 Pro. It is significantly more expensive, and while the minor speed bump is nice, for me it's more about dramatic increase in life expectancy and therefore data security/integrity.
-
Same story over here, couldn't handle the wait with no pc/laptop and opted for the 850 since its available.
