Hi everyone,
I'm going to get my first gaming laptop. I have my eye on the Sager version of the Clevo M860TU. But apparently, the support and quality of the company is below the average mark. ( http://www.labbb.org/BBBWEB/Forms/B...sionPage.aspx?CompanyID=33000135&sm=#Contacts)
An F rating!
I was wondering if it would be safer on XoticPC, but there are some people on resellerratings.com reporting bad service.
I really want that M860TU, since there is no 15.4'' laptop with such high specs. Help?
Thank you all!![]()

I can't speak to the M860TU, but I can speak of my experiences thus far with Xotic.
I placed an order for an NP5797 and, absent one minor misunderstanding, everything has been wonderful. Justin has held my hand and has been quite patient in explaining to me the different specs, walking me through the process and enduring a barrage of PMs from me.
I chose Xotic from how Justin comports himself on the forums and also how well-received his company is regarded on these forums.
I would suggest you check out the M860TU owner's thread for questions specific to your computer, but I think you'll find nothing but admiration for the quality of service offered through Xotic. -
The M860TU is a great 15.4 inch model. We have just made some changes to our model (Rock X620). We will very soon be slapping in the new Mobile Duo Core cpu's Intel announced end of 08.

Check the Clevo Guide. Ordering through a reseller is the preferred method of purchasing a Sager. Sager actually prefers to do business through resellers. It is difficult to go wrong with most of the resellers, they do legitimate and honest business.
-
I could not agree more with that
-
great choice you have made there. the m860tu/Nexus has been the best computer i have bought so far and ive been through a few.
have a read through THIS guide which Chaz posted above and it will answer a lot of your questions.
depending what part of the world you are from,ie europe, america, canada and where you were thinking of ordering from i can highly recommend Kobalt in the uk if you decide to order from europe.
post up the spec you was thinking of getting so we can all help you out further. -

Hi,
I just ordered a new N5797 from Xotic (currently in phase 2, building/testing/qa/etc).
I had a small mix up with shipping/billing addresses with my credit card, along with an interactive help session about the credit card problem with Justin W. During that conversation it seemed like he was helping 12 people at the same time or something (slow responses, all canned responses - links to the website, wasn't super helpful).
But, since then, I have PMed a couple more times (basically once or twice a day till my order moved into phase 2) and with those PMs Justin W has been great. Always asking if I needed any more information, or if he could help with something else. Maybe since Monday was the first day back from holidays there were just tons of people to help
So, I was a little worried at first, but I'm comfortable now that I made a good choice. Also, these forums seem full of XoticPC lovers, so they must be doing something right -
I've had some quirky sessions with other companies using those live or interactive chat arrangements - they're a very, very poor substitute for a definite one-on-one conversation, directly or via email/pm, and the apparent delays could just as likely be network-related as they could be related to whomever you're chatting with, so I wouldn't be surprised that your chat session with JustinW wasn't as satisfying as your pm exchange apparently was.
-
Oh, they were all interactive chat arrangements. But my first one seems to have been the exception. I would say that XoticPC seems to make every attempt to help their customers (from my limited experience).

Ordering to the US:
1650x1050 WSGXA+ Glare Type Screen Intel P9500 2.53 GHz
nVidia Geforce 9800GTS 4GB DDR3 320GB 7200RPM Hard Drive Internal Bluetooth Intel Wireless 5300 Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium.
So thanks you guys, but I don't think I can get a Kolbalt or Rock machine.
Should I stick with XoticPC? Or do Kolbalt and Rock ship to USA? -
i think they do but its best to buy from usa if thats where you live as if you needed warranty repair then you could be charged.
i know nothing about XoticPC but it sounds like there are lots of happy customers out there in computer land. -
XoticPC then. Thanks guys!
-
i see you do not have yours active so if you go to user cp to the left of your user name you can change it to active or on. -
-
get posting piano and then you can pm. -
Great.
Anyway, does the power of a CPU have an effect on the battery of the system? Because there is a $35 difference between the T9400 and the P9500, and they're both 2.53GHz.
And is 2.53Ghz fast enough for a casual gamer? -
trust me and go for P9500, most of us on here did.
-
The small price difference worth it
2.53GHz is way enough. Stick to the P8600 for a budget laptop. -
That's it then. Is the P9500 overclockable? If it is, should I do it?
-
And should I get a better sound card, like the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 SB1090 5.1 Channels 24-bit External USB Sound Card" or not? How big is the difference?
-
Another problem: I have 15 posts, yet I still can't use PM. How do you activate it, in the User CP?
-
Since you can't pm, try either sending an email to Chaz (at the bottom of the forum's main page, he should be listed as the moderator - the listing is a hyperlink that should take you to his public member's page, from which you can find a link that will permit you to send him an email), or else post a very short thread in the NBR general discussion forum (down near the bottom of the list of available fora) asking the mods to verify that your account has updated properly. -
now if your new to it all and dont know what your doing with overclocking then in my opinion i wouldnt even try.
a lot of resellers will not cver your warranty if they know you have overclocked and fried something.
-
Chaz has moved you into the Q so you should be able to pm soon but it can take a day or so to activate
-
@MrDJ - the sound card you have is not the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 SB1090 5.1 Channels 24-bit External USB Sound Card" as mentioned, it is an x-fi xtreme audio notebook, also good (i have one as well)
-
thanks. i was half asleep when i wrote that out and wasnt concentrating that much.
-
No problem, just thought I'd clarify that wasn't what he'd get if he ordered what he suggested
-
thanks guys
Is it better to go through a reseller?
