I found a clevo laptop with Intel 8700 + GTX 1060. Little research showed me it original supports 7700HQ and the probably seller itself is replacing the CPU model.

I'm wondering if it is good idea to buy this model? In terms for heat management and durability. I am mainly going to use it for development work (not constantly high cpu more like spikes in usage while running things, compiling stuff). Also I can buy a laptop fan for gaming if required. I don't care much about battery.

Yes even if you were to solder the chips they are not compatible with the older chipset.

Hi, this is TP6 Model not KP6, TP6 is with Coffe Lake and is not compatible with Skylake and Kaby Lake cpu's. KP6 yes is compatible only with Skylake and Kaby Lake.

I ended up buying it with Intel 8700 from clevo-extreme. It's little big but it's very quiet and superfast. Temperature is usually ~50C and cooling is very effective too under high load. I am overall very happy with my purchase and I feel it's the best laptop for me. One thing I noticed is drivers are very stable. I used to run into driver issue with Dell (even Dell XPS) but no BSOD in this yet.

I know you guys don't like Passmark much, but after final specs, it scored 6647 (top 1%).

If you guys have any question, feel free to ask me. I have understanding of hardware but not very deep. So I will be able to answer only basic hardware questions.

    you could run:
    -3dmark firestrike
    -time spy
    -unigine heaven
    -unigine superposition
-aida64 extreme (stability test cpu+gpu for 30 minutes)

I know about other tests. Passmark is good enough for me.

I have GTX 1060 and played GTA V with full everything and didn't noticed any lag at all. :)
